I was in line for a George RR Martin book signing, and I was telling the people in line with me this exact thing, that people always ask me for directions etc, and someone tapped me in the shoulder in the middle of this explaination to ask what the line up was all about and we all laughed and I explained about the book signing and who George was, that he wrote the book series that Game of Thrones the TV show was from. ...every time lol people just seem to assume I know what's going on. I also had a guy randomly sit next to me at a bar once while I listened to my friends Jazz band play.. told me his whole life story and asked my advice on his marriage, and seemed like he was going to take it. And a random lady at the park asked if I could watch her toddler as she caught her dog. Like sure..you get I'm a stranger in a park, right?? You don't do this a lot, do you? I mean I'm Not going to do something bad but how can you know that?? And one of the new dog moms who joined the dog group I informally started by introducing people to one another (they only knew the dog names??), ended up telling me a complicated very messy situation in her family so I gave her some advice on what she could do to help sort it out and prayed with her, and a few weeks later it was all sorted, and no-one got divorced ❤ (all Glory to God) It's like we have a floating sign over our head that says, "Questions ? @@cc1k435 Once we move from 'trying' to do this - to simply doing it (the moment we become aware of this type of behaviour in another person) - without feeling shame or sadness - than we have mastered a big part of that boundary issue right there ;) Even as a 44 yr old INFJ, I am still learning this. It is the most pragmatic and elegant conclusion I have come to so far. I realize (without judgement but with compassion) that there truly are people who do not see / are incapable of seeing where the sensitive INFJ boundaries are. If even with added explanation - they refuse to honor these boundaries / or still remain incapable of seeing them - I learned that: I MUST LEAVE. Call it a doorslam or whatever. I feel that I owe it to myself - but in a way - to them as well. For as long as I stick around such people, I would be feeding them the illusion that I do not care - whilst deep inside, their ongoing unconscious behaviours towards me and others, just make me cringe. That cringe-feeling, is like a self-punishment for sticking around them - it is my rational mind arguing with the Universe - even though it is showing me; me and that other person simply aren't an energetic match! There is nothing wrong with that, I can perfectly well 'love them from a distance'. I don't have to be close to everyone I know. IN in INFJ stands for INtrovert for a reason - we must make extra conscious descisions about who we hang with. They'll be fine - there are natural matches for all types in the book - so no need to feel guilty ;)

In my experience most people do exactly everything for social reasons. Life is a popularity contest from the moment you're born until you die (maybe even after the fact) and people put so much of their effort into participating that they don't know anything else. The comment that INFJs eventually learn that they are different and adapt hit home. It took me a long long time to realise I was the odd one out and why. One of those things you really wish you had understood as a much younger person as it would have saved a lot of soul searching! I had done a Myers-Briggs test years back, and the guy doing it had said "you are different to most people and important in your team as you will prevent group think" but I didn't realise what that meant in my personal life. Better late than never I guess. The other point that has helped me understand myself is why my small group of friends are comprised mainly of highly intelligent people who have problems in their lives. Fascinating.

@@PSYCH-Oindeed one of the real ones, and not an *NFP who goes on about what good heart they have.. other people may say we have good hearts, and will probably be shocked when We don't think we do, but we try to Be good. I've gotten a few friends upset with me for disagreeing with them saying that I'm a good person. Good is perfect, and I'm not that. (Truth type Pokémon, I can't agree if I don't think it's True) We're like an odd mix of strange alien and friendly robot, stern looks that turn into open and warm smiles with amused eyes. I didn't think I was an INFJ because over 70% of INFJ content is inaccurate, all light and rainbows; I mean empathy sure, but missing analysis, we are Hot and Cold and it comes off as warm. Judgemental but accepting. Like an ancient wise child, and young at heart silly grandparent. Ever notice people never guess your age right? I'm 42 and I get 28, til we start talking. When I was a kid it would be the same but in reverse. Wait you're only X? Why do you know about Y then? And how people trying hide things make them easier for us to see, but when Stressed can't find your real physical keys on the table in front of you (inferior Se). It's like a lot of what people find hard is easy, but a lot of what people find easy I find hard. My best friend is an ISTJ, and what he considers mundane "yeah but everyone can do X" is practically magic to me. But he thinks I'm a wizard when it comes to people, and understanding situations, and motives. Anyway it's nice to be seen. Camaraderie is rare for us, at least for me. So thank you, it helps.

Useful at some level. The bias of imagery to young people only and all 'beautiful people' stereotypes is disturbing beyond measure. I guess I am not one of those, so there you go with my INFJ flaring up to see the problems of personality-type discourse added to imagery. I'd prefer no images and just a good talk on the topic. So, that said, I am a septuagenarian INFJ and so more needs to be in these types of videos on INJFs that distinguishes and distributes across age (at least). Also, when an INFJ becomes a writer of non-fiction for example, and thus a teacher mostly through their writing...like myself, I became a Ph.D. and social critic/activist. This is not conflict-avoidant as the video says. As well, we ought to be talking about the impact of when people first meet the INFJ writing(s) and how do they respond to that. Writing communications are a whole other game of what gets triggered for people. Simply, now married for 33 years, my wife (not an INFJ) tells me that people are way more intimidated by my writing than when they meet me face-to-face. Problem is, I don't like to be face-to-face out in the real everyday world much at all anymore.
