Gupat ji, Next time you make a claim of being unbiased, impartial, non-hyphenated etc etc, please watch yesterday's episode on Chinas missile attack on Japan. There was no need, no context to reference % of votes for BJP. But you did. Saying something like nearly 55 / 60% people didn't vote for BJP. Mr Gupta, Nehru in his first, second and Third term got 45, 48 and 45% votes respectively. Did you you should have shared this as a context ? Or presenting inconvenient truths is against your principles ? Secondly, you present twisted news we know. But you have started forging numbers as well. 20 nautical miles is not 22 kms but close to 37 kms. But if it's China who is firing missiles, it can be 22 kms I guess. Just like firing missiles on an "imaginary targets" as Guptaji likes to call it. Ultimately, you have to protect interests of those who fund you.

Too late Shekhar ji, Yesterday results of 271 panchayats came out BJP got 80 , NCP 53, Shinde Sena 42, and Uddhav Sena 27. This is despite of Aditya Thackeray doing rounds of these panchayats actively. Delhis political pundits might be thinking the split is vertical , but looks like Shinde Sena is real Sena now, at least in the eyes of common voters in Maharashtra

Shinde has no stake in BMC. He would want the BJP to won. He'll craftily put candidates to divide votes and benefit the BJP. Nevertheless, even if they lose I doubt it's a life and death issue for them because there are other options to keep the flock in place.

BJP was very, very close in the 2017 BMC election itself. SS had won 84, BJP had won 82 - just 2 behind the SS. The election was so close, one ward in South Mumbai had to be decided by a draw of lots. With the BJP being too close behind the SS for the latter's comfort, SS went around poaching corporators from the MNS and the INC and the independents left right and centre. 6 out of 7 MNS corporators joined SS, one of whom, Dilip Lande, went on to become the MLA from Chandivali, by a wafer-thin margin of 409 votes. (Fun fact: Dilip Lande is one of the 4 Mumbai MLAs in the Shinde group).

Shekharji, for a person who is born and raised and destined to die in Mumbai, the time to write obituary of Shiv Sena is due. With absolute power of BMC in the hands of Shiv Sena has corrupted the party absolutely. Considering the Marathi population of around 25% in Mumbai , not entirely is the vote base of Shiv Sena. The division of voters among the various parties gives a definite edge to BJP. Moreover the Shiv Sena has ditched the voters of Mumbai in the Vidhan Sabha elections of 2019 first by aligning with BJP and then to satisfy the personal ambition of it's chief to ascend the throne of CM, by forming alliance with Bhrashtavadi Congress and now virtually extinct Congress is not lost on voters. The voters are determined to teach Shiv Sena a lesson which will have a crippling effect.

I totally disagree with your "If Uddhav wins BMC" assumption. I would be very very surprised if Uddhav Sena does remotely well in either BMC or the next Assembly elections, whenever they happen. Also, UT tried his best to postpone elections of any kind through his tenure. And we saw what happened when elections finally happened :) From a context perspective, people did vote clearly for Sena BJP in 2019. Also most SS MPs and MLAs had huge Modi posters in their rallies. Whatever UT did post elections was a desperate act of a desperate man who was doomed either ways. Even in BMC the score was 84 vs 82, ish, and SS then wooed MNS corporators into their fold to increase the number to 90+. Add to this the terrible 2.5 years of MVA Government. Highest per million covid deaths, policy flip flops, and to top it all corruption and yukky business that was kind of out of fashion between 2014 and 2019, BJP will do well in the upcoming elections across state as well as BMC. I in fact think the BJP are being overly cautious and they could have gone solo..

Municipal corporations are to urban area I.e. cities and towns what the Panchayat are to villages. Policies and political also thinkers are never tired of extolling the virtues of democracy at grass-root level. But we carefully look and take stock of ground reality, we would find the conditions appalling and miserable and deploying. We would fund degradation, which is the result of poor governance by the municipal authorities. Where do I citizen live?. Simple. I live in a place which is governed by a municipal corporation. But when I look around, I find that in most cases the discussions in public veer around the politics at state or national level with a sprinkling of international affairs. But hardly any one of us would remember the name of our municipal corporator. He is like a ghost for us. Little wonder our villages and towns are miserable places. All the problems are old problems waiting solutions since our gra d-fathers to.e. So what the he'll these corporatprs have been doing all these decades, is the pertinent question, we should ask these idlers

@@nandi7772 Hey Abhi. Yes. I knew the word. Have been following US politics for quite a while now. Almost every state election this will be talked about. Republican governors of states will try to make Borders in such a way that black, Hispanic voters are either clubbed into one weirdly shaped seat so that the Republicans only lose one seat or will spread the blacks, Hispanics out in so many constituencies that their votes won't matter at all. I'm sure the Democrats do Gerrymandering too but to a lesser extent. I feel Gerrymandering will continue to exist in a first past the post (FPTP) voting system like we have in India, US, UK etc. Single Transferable Vote (STV; followed in France) and Mixed Member Proportion (MMP; followed in Israel, Iceland, Germany etc.) methods of voting do solve this problem to a large extent. Shekhar got the picture wrong. Bjb won almost as many seats as Shiv sena last time, then thakare betrayed them joined cong ncp to form state govt. Bjp could not even get opposition post in bmc as they were together initially. Now thakare has to face bjp+ split shivsena and if he joins cong ncp with diametrically opposed ideology he has to face an enlightened mumbai voters population. Will be fun to watch

Gujarati and UP voters are with BJP. A chunk of educated Marathi voters also vote for the BJP. It's going to be very hard for Shiv Sena to keep Mumbai

SG deliberately forgot to mention that in both cases delaying the elections goes in BJP's favour. "This is politics" type commentary is not going to cut it anymore. Maybe when BJP suspends all elections, SG will do a "cut the clutter" saying "this is politics, Congress also did it in 1975."

1. Looks like this episode is sponsored by Uddhav Sena!!! We ought to note that in the last BMC, BJP had just few seats less than Sena. With Sena now split, BJP along with Shinde Sena is expected to win BMC easily. Mumbai now has large non Marathi voters who are expected to vote for BJP.. Marathi votes will split amongst BJP and two Senas as well as other parties. 2. The delimitation done by Uddhav has been cancelled by ED!! So we are back to original position. 3. SC will decide the issue next week and is most likely to confuse it further by referring to Constitutional Bench but EC will take its own decision thereafter. Whatever be the decision, the symbol per se is not big deal for either group and it may be mostly frozen for now. More crucial is the control of Sena Bhavan and treasury of Sena by Shinde.
