Among all of Pacman's opponents, only Marquez was able to figure out Manny's style. But even then, it took him 3 fights to figure him out. And since both fighters have high ring intelligence, they made adjustments on the fly in all their collisions. Marquez definitely earned his victory in their last fight, but there was no animosity between the two. They were friends, yet they knew they have to leave that outside the ring. While inside, it's just plain war.
@noncehuntingassociation87442 жыл бұрын
There were stated plans by a number of opponents, who then went out and fought that way to win. If they didn't fight to a plan, then they somehow landed alot of lucky punches and he has issues with his defence to lose 8 times throughout his career.
@MyKingJesus12 жыл бұрын
@@noncehuntingassociation8744 Of course, a smart athlete would plan ahead and analyze their opponent's strengths and weaknesses. But, rarely do things go to plan, so they have to know how to anticipate changes and adjustments while mid fight. Both Pacquiao and Marquez showed a high level of intelligence in all their fights. That's what I love about them even though Manny lost the last one.
@noncehuntingassociation87442 жыл бұрын
@@MyKingJesus1 Manny struggled to adjust to a number of fighters, even Horn. Horn used the same awkward tactics in other fights and was picked apart. Fair chance he would have lost to Hussein anywhere else in the world too. They stopped the fight late for a cut on the cheekbone that wasn't impairing vision or that severe. He did not appear to adjust greatly to Floyd and his earlier knockout loses were because he was trying to stand and trade. Outstanding fighter obviously. I think the Marquez fights were indeed a fantastic meld. Like Frazier was for Ali or Ward and Gatti.

@@Dakingalbert2 Granted he did, but he never really "boxed" with Pacquiao. He slips a few good counters, but he never really traded heavy blows. Then again, that IS Mayweather's style plus he's a defensive fighter unlike Marquez who was more like a volume puncher like Pacquiao.
