The 999 call gives it away. First thing you would ask for is an ambulance for your wife. You would not worry about the burglary, the ransacking or mention that you was out, giving your alibi straightaway. Or ask if you should take the duct tape off, surely you would do that anyway, especially if it's on her mouth!

@@MooiMeissje Yeah the questions revolving around why these two didn`t "just" divorce one another. Appearences and sense of duty to a family is something someone cannot possibly understand unless they`ve been a part of it themselves. In many cultures, even if one didn`t care at all to be completely cut off from one`s family and their entire community aka oftentimes their ENTIRE support system, their actions have consequences even for their families- their parents, their grandparents and their siblings can face dishonor, shunning and discrimination from the community because of what YOU did. That kind of responsibility is a heavy burden to bear, which is precisely why communities are so powerful. This kind of behaviour is so ingrained that it can only be remedied through the slow modernization of each new generation. You know, just 20 years ago it was looked down upon to divorce in the west too. For many communities, acceptance of more modern ideas still haven`t properly taken hold.

@sshukla7975
@sshukla7975 2 жыл бұрын
Still happens ALOT. in India a dead daughter is considered much better than divorced one. All the blame is out on women, because "she couldn't adjust in that house" That actually means, she should have kept going on with abuse, manipulation and control and submit to all that happens to her. Recent case of a medical student, who was married off. Her abuse was pretty evident, her family, friends, university and even parents and siblings knew it. She got trashed in front on her own brother but on a recorded call to her father, her father actually said, " it happens everywhere child, you will adjust". While she was hysterical on the other side. She committed suicide, only then mother father brother friends acted. The shameful part was she was sending photos to everyone of her injuries and calls of abuse. Even the husband and family members were recorded on call how to abuse her more and not to get caught. All was in open and none batted a eye, but rather said to her to continue. So yeah it's really happening. Mind you she was on the way to be a DOCTOE, a freaking doctor. That much knowledge and capabilities was lost a life was lost because family wanted their honor more than a daughter and to avoid the stigma of having a divorced daughter.

@@aditisharma6951 sure they are not like that. Then why does a male child is still celebrated more than a girl child even in highly educated family. Many working girls forced to marry their family choices, why they can't have their own choices in place for a partner?. Why They have to hide boyfriends and their relationship even if they are working and consenting adults living with them? Why girls give up career in name of marriage and kids, while not their own family and in-laws never talk about their dreams and aspirations? Why girls have to be scared going out at night and day and have to be decent and to be within norms of a family? I am sure I will shut the fuck up! But the matter of fact is the problem is women like you and many mother and girls themselves who refuse to see the way we treat our own girls. They believe coercive control is love and care. And serious stalking and control is love by boyfriends and husbands. Grow up a little, no one is trying to be feminist but that's the real problem. Indira noi herself said her mom would tell her, to be a cook for her own husband and leave her crown outside the house. While noi was on the way to be company executive. If that doesn't reflect how we are towards our own girls I don't know what is. I hope you would face the similar thing sooner in your life, and I feel sorry for you. That's learning few curse words makes you modern. Do you feel proud of yourself now? Hope this cycle of indoctrination of women stops in oppressing other women. But I guess some are purely brain washed in believing there's no problem as look other way. Great.

I find it beyond sad that families wield so much power over their children that they feel their only option to be who they are is to take their own life or the life of someone who thought they were loved by. Parents need to know that they do not OWN their children and that their children have every right to be who they want to be. My children don't owe me anything for giving them life. In fact, I feel blessed to have had them for a few years to love and treasure but to let them fly and make their own way. My reward is their happiness. Nothing would stop my love for them. NOTHING. Parents need to dictate their children's life or to life their own dreams through their children. My heart goes out to you for feeling that taking your own life was the only way to be able to be yourself. I am glad you chose life and were strong enough to stand for who you are. ❤ Matel chose the path of destruction and took the life of a beautiful, loving and innocent woman. Jessica was so kind and forgiving of Mitesh after she found out what he was doing, giving him chance after chance. It seems like originally she wasn't even mad at him for his sexual preferences only sad that he was unfaithful. A good man at that point would admit what he was doing and let Jessica move on to someone else. Jessica deserved to have a partner who loved her and adored her. She deserved to have her loving marriage and have her beautiful baby no matter how long it took. The fact Mitesh took medication to suppress to his sperm count and that he was physically abusive is absolutely disgusting. He is just pure evil. What a total d-bag.

No gloves so his DNA was on everything (tape, plastic bag) used on his poor wife. I knew he was lying by his 999 call. He said he was only gone about a half hour. Yet his wife was fully bound and already cold when he returned and called. Time didn’t add up. She would’ve been dead before he left. Kudos to prosecution team for going the extra mile on evidence. In Indian culture both sets of parents pressure you to stay with someone even if you know you aren't compatible. They say just to work it out and not get bothered by differences. Often they downplay or ignore openly done abuse. I don't know if Jessica's family and inlaws condoned the abuse but I'm sure they convinced her that getting a divorce or walking out was wrong. Also the repeated IVF would have been pressure from her inlaws to bear a child. Usually the husband doesn't argue with his parents when they demand a grandchild.

I have seen many guys around me in real life who hide their sexual orientation because of fear but drag another girl unnecessarily ruining her life too not only that they let all of their frustration out on her. may it be physically or mentally when it's not even her fault.

I live in a Caribbean country made up of almost 50% Indian or people from east Indian decent. This is soooooo common. Domestic abuse is very common but the shocking this is that it's usually widely known among the family. They usually ask the ladies to stay because divorce is a shame. Within the past year, we have had so many cases of violence against women, domestic violent and it almost always ends up in murder suicides ....the Indian community needs to stop facilitating this nonsense. They usually know the daughters and daughters in law and being beaten and sometimes even raped by the husband's and they don't do anything!!! Hypocrites

Her family equally responsible for her death too... When she went to them asking for help they did not help her. This same thing happened with my mother too when my father pressurized her for divorce coz he want to be with his girlfriend. He physically abused her and torched her mentally after all suffering for only 2.5 years long marriage when I was only 1.5 years old when she took her own life. In Indian family doesn't support when a girl ask for divorce from his husband and it is still countinue in Indian society no matter where they live.

It's amazing to me, how slow the families are to pick up and react on their own siblings/daughter's unhappiness, right? How can you not notice a loved one's unhappiness and deterioration, when you compare the before and post marriage photo's, especially when she had brought up a number of anxious, or, contentious subjects with regards to her husband. It really annoys me when hindsight makes people question in our community, questions they should be asking their siblings constantly, to find out about their well being, they just turn a blind eye. Oh well, that's just life, get on with it.... everyone else does, copes and manages. Geez, WAKE UP people, it's not hard to see and I'm a complete stranger.

Another UK Indian girl was killed by her UK Indian husband on their honeymoon for the same reason a few years ago. The bugger is gay and and chose to get his new wife killed instead of coming out to his family and community. These blokes talk about difficulties and facing criticism from their parents & community but killing comes easy to them. It’s bizarre.

@@saraho9568 If you're referring to homosexuality within different cultures, it's only a short 50 years or so since Britain stopped persecuting people who were homosexuals or lesbians. Each child is born into their immediate culture, the majority of people stay within that cultures' beliefs and traditions. I'm living my life in the same culture as I have always lived with my friends and family, its just natural for us to do so. Most people are enjoying happy and fulfilled lives in all parts of the world, we shouldn't really be criticising other folks creeds and cultures, its nothing to do with us.

To an extend, I think Jessica's family is also responsible. Among Indians, divorce is considered as a black mark when it comes to women. So, the bride's family will always suggest to forgive and patch up. Here, being eldest among 6 children, Jessica would not have had the courage to walk of the abusive relationship for two reasons, one the social stigma and two, that her parents have to take care of her siblings and she returning home will become a burden on them. If her parents or siblings had been supportive, probably Jessica would have been alive today. Irrespective of where they live or how rich they're, Indians have this in their blood.
