When Bruce FIRST introduced this song, at the 2006 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Fest he made the comment, "there are at least a dozen people on thses grounds right now that can do this better than me... but I'm going to take a turn." This version is triumphant! But I would suggest that even The Boss would disagree with your perspective on the song in general.

I saw Bruce do this version at the '06 N.O. Jazz Fest ( 8 months after Katrina) and it was hard to find a dry eye at the Fairgrounds that day. ALSO, the N.O.Saints were drafting Marques Colston with the 252nd pick in the 7th round at the same time . Talk about an omen!

This video runs 5:55 that number represents the casting off "When the Saints Go Marching In" there will be a casting off of the old body, life, earthly garments. The Saints get new white linen garments to go with the *New Heaven * only it will be more like "I'll Fly Away." 'Hello Sunshine" I want to stay in that number. Hope to see you in that New Heaven. Bellissima, ve la consiglio, anche se sono più di 500 pagine. Lì ho scoperto che uno dei concerti che gli sono rimasti più nel cuore è stato quello a New Orleans, subito dopo l’uragano Katrina. Ad un certo punto, a quel concerto, dentro quella città ferita e quasi spacciata, Bruce canta questo brano che ne è un po’ il simbolo. Ma lo fa così, come la sentite stasera, qui ripresa in un altro concerto, qualche anno dopo. Da canzone che sprigionava allegria e voglia di ballare, Springsteen ne ha fatto una ballad struggente, con un climax che piano piano sale, ma senza esplodere. Una canzone mesta, malinconica, che nonostante tutto dà speranza, sia pure nella tragedia di allora. Una delle più belle canzoni che ho mai ascoltato. Commovente. 08/03/2017
