Hi, I've been driving a Jag with exactly the same issue as your Range Rover for years. Same problem on one hill, due to a 30 limit. If I'm in 2nd no problems, If I'm in 3rd it goes in to limp mode and flashes and bongs madely. I've not bothered to play around myself but after much research it's likely down to the placing of the DPF sensor. If the engine is properly up to temp, it doesn't happen. Take it on a long clean out run or and it will likely go away. I live in Devon too, so finding a 60mph for a 40 minute straight drive is difficult but worth it. I suspect if you do that, your problems will go away.

Hi James. Another poster has already mentioned this; your MGB’s front offside tyre (which is a directional tyre) is fitted back-to-front. This possibly implies the front nearside is also fitted back-to-front - if it’s a matching pair on the SAME AXLE - which should always be the case. Additionally, if the directional tyres have the best tread depth, they should be fitted on the REAR EXLE (of course, in the correct “direction”), as best treads should always be fitted to the REAR of a vehicle - irrespective of whether the vehicle is rear, front or all-wheel drive. I now await a whole load of comeback from some “they think they know it all petrolhead boy racers” regarding my post! My daily runner is a 1989 MX-5 Eunos - love it to bits - but I’ll be up to see you sometime (1hr 15min drive) as I am looking for a Hyundai i10 (or similar sized bullet-proof vehicle) as I can only get two Tesco shopping bags in the MX boot! I appreciate your honest ethos. Iain.

It'll be prolonged boost problems on your RR ecu detects a problem, only be a little bit less or too much and it'll limp it, could be egr, turbo, leak, manifolds caked up so enough air can't get tru, loads of things, as you know on diesels, it's basically detected air /fuel ratio isn't right, for whatever reason.

Wildcard - don’t know the nature of your limp mode, but I had an Audi S4 V8 that has potentially similar ZF gearbox to Rangie. That used to hate one hill - it got its knickers in a twist with input output speed anomalies due to a fluttering 3rd gear solenoid, and confused brain on kick down / load demand sensing. Gearbox went into limp mode. Took yonks to diagnose until solenoid got worse and started shuddering. But always the same hill, nowhere else.

They had intereference issues at Daventry where the old BBC third programme was transmitted many many many years ago. The then new "transistorized "ignition systems used to die because of interference from the transmitter. There used to be an AA patrol man permanently there just to tow the cars out of range when they would run perfectly well again. Car manufacturers did track the problem eventually and I don't know who paid for the AA man

Years ago i bought a very cheap ford mondeo as a stop gap whilst i waited to find the right car i actually wanted within a reasonable distance. I had already had an offer from someone who wanted to buy my own car privately and for more than i could get px. Upon handing over the cash and getting the mondeo documents etc the bloke said i have got something you might find handy to keep in the boot and proceeded to stagger out from his shed with a cardboard box full of random bolts, auto bulbs and bits of wire. It turned out this was not actually a bad omen and the car never gave me any trouble in 4 months nor my brother, who then brought it off me, taking it from 90,000 miles to 220,000!

When buying from main dealer or subscriber bud, check for pending codes, that cat code would have come up, most likely it was cleared prior to you buying it(maybe) just before you sell again check for pending codes, it would have saved all the hassle, I'm afraid you sunk yourself on that one, you've sold it as a mint low miler, next thing it's cat and brakes, customers get spooked and these days it's straight to rejection. I'm pretty sure you've got one chance to fix tho, I'd have said that's what I'm going to do. Another point is your not supposed to be able to claim mileage, that's only after 30 days, customers only responsibility is to make the car available to you, but obviously if you can shave a bit off its better for you. Tbh by doing a pending scan and checking the brakes, maybe doing a pdi and making a note of them all this could be avoided. 5:02
@roystonvehicles912927 күн бұрын
As your getting caught out on "I'm not sure if I did that" stuff, mokka service, belt, pug brakes, start doing a pdi, or your garage, keep a copy, do a scan, pending scan, service done, yes or no, Cambelt condition, pull cover off and have a look, note down it's condition, you know, anything you can, customer gets a copy, you keep one, it'd help a sale and you've got a firm record, more and more these days I'm having to head all these things off, it's brutal out there mate.
