Thank you for this video! Fellow Appalachian gal here and I've always just kind of let my herb garden do what it wants to do and only trimmed it as needed because I'm afraid of killing my plant. After watching this, it makes sense that taking old growth will encourage new. I can't wait to check out some of your other videos about my other herbs!

Thank you for this! I’ve waited way too long to trim my oregano. Going to harvest today!

My poor oregano gets bug bite spots all over it every summer. Do you think it's still OK to dry and use? I'm going to cut it back. This is just the information I needed Thanks!

Thanks. I have 2 in the ground and one in a container ... which I plan on bringing indoors thru the winter.

I cut back my basil in a similar fashion, it always grows back larger and very bushy.

Is there a video to show how it grew afterward?
@appalachianherbkitchen51473 жыл бұрын
There is not. But this was last year and that oregano patch is as healthy as ever. I harvest a ton of oregano every year

Thank you, my plant is looking so beautiful and I'm so scared to cut it but I rather have more oregano and my goal is to have dry oregano too.

Gotta get rid of that fear, and just go for it. I used to be that way too, and I've learned that plants like haircuts as much as we do 😉

Can you tell me how long it takes to grow this herb into a bush? I think it would benefit honeybees as a mite treatment, and deter yellow jacket wasps (they don't like mint). Its also a great kitchen spice.

About three months for it to be like in the video, depending on where you are.
