It’s like in Ukrainian: ти, тебе, тобі etc ( variations of you or tu)

We can simply say that ( toi) is an objective pronoun that comes after preposition and verb. Like / me / him / her … etc Am I right??

Simply there is no rule you should just read a lot to know if the word is masculine or feminine 😊

Strangely enough I know the difference between toi and tu but I would not be able to explain. One of those "you know it when you see it" situations.

But what about "te?"
@Gary-pe4ce Жыл бұрын
Te = yourself, it is used as a reflexive pronoun, a COD (complément d'objet direct) or COI (Complément d'objet indirect) Anytime there is a reflixve verb (verbs that are normally se + infinitif example: se réveiller) it means you do that verb to yourself in the followong examples what you see in brackets are dropped in english Tu te réveille = you woke (yourself) up. Tu t'appelle comment? = how do you call yourself? / what is your name? For COD and COI, it is when it is someone else doing the verb to you. COD requires that the verb and yourself should have no préposition in between. Je t'appelle = I am calling you (appeler does not come with a préposition normally) Je te parle = I am talking to you (parler almost always comes with a prépostion either à or de, except when you say you speak a language) Or je parle de toi = I am talking about you

Think as this Tu = you (always) Toi = yourself (always) (Object) + à + toi = yours Subject + verb + à + toi = you (subject does verb that involves you indirectly unless it is a communication verb) Subject + verb + de + toi = you (subject does verb about you indirectly) (Object) + pour + toi = for you Imperatif + toi = yourself (giving a command to yourself or when someone give the command it is to you) Te = yourself (means yourself if the verb is a reflexive verb, if the subject is a different person then the subject does the verb to yourself...if that makes sense) Examples: Tu parles = you are speaking/you speak Parle-toi = speak to yourself Je pense à toi = I am thinking of you Il parle de toi = He's talking about you Elle te parle = She's talking to you Le sac-à-dos c'est à toi = the backpack is yours Il est pour toi = it is for you Tu te prends pour ton père = you take (yourself) after your father Do note for reflexive verbs, when translated the reflexive pronoun is dropped in translation so that last example in brackets is optional to be part of translation.
