All of what you said, especially in the first 5 minutes, hit the nail on the head. I've started to intentionally prepare myself for courtship and marriage for almost a year. I'm seeing a psychologist to deal with my poor attachment to my mother, I've improved my financial management, learning vegan cooking, developing my business, working on my health and self-care. I've also started reading books, understanding my role as a wife, etc. It's quite an exciting journey and I've definitely scared that I'm not even ready although I want a relationship. This video was really helpful and affirming. Thanks for this. I think I'll contact you for coaching at the end of the year. I'm also treating myself to a stylist at the end of the year 🤗

One thing I've learned is that celibacy doesn't automatically increase your intimacy with God. Your relationship with God requires intentions and commitment. You need to take the time to talk to God.

at 67 i did not think there was anyone out there for me. So I prayed for weeks. I was on an online dating app...looking at pictures. I kept going back to a pic of a man who's eyes just caught my attention. He did not look like a man I would normally be attracted to, but I couldn't get past those eyes., so I said "hello". This is all great advice Stephan. What's frustrating is when you are fully prepared (healed, ready to be vulnerable, ready to provide for the needs and desires of you future spouse, ready to be submissive, ready to take on the appropriate role in the marriage etc) and GOD still doesn't connect you to the man that He has for you. You better speak on "your not healing affecting your children." We dont realize the brokenness we pass to our children; the feelings of not deserving love; insecurities; and modeled poor relationships. I strongly believe thats the issue with black women not trust other black women; watching momma and auntie's relationships. I know pain/loss was an issue in how I treated my son. I was so scared he would leave or hurt me that I kept him at arm's length. I vowed to heal my abandonment issues, so I could love him effectively. One really has to take into account how they're hurts spill over into other relationships.

Excellent video. Agree, waiting on God can get hard but I have come to realize that my lack of patience was my own desire to control every event and detail that happens. I have found that the best thing to do when waiting on God is to surrender it all to Him. Now, my faith lies in knowing that He will do what He promised, and God is able to do all things. Yes, agree I am no longer in the process of waiting. I am becoming my best version, healing, and preparing to receive my blessing in God's divine time, not my own time. I no longer try to rush life and events. I can just relax with the peace and understanding that whatever God has for me will certainly come in due season. My faith can move a mountain now and the process of waiting has certainly developed a better, closer relationship with God and that is certainly worth the wait ! Thank you for the video. Thanks for this video, this message speaks volumes. Hard to be open when you're still hurt. I heard some important takeaways...writing a list to identify the place of hurt is a key factor to healing. In all my years of attending church no one ever said to identify the hurt. Just oh you gotta forgive. How do you forgive when the hurt and pain is so intangible, that at times it's not even explanable. I tried once to share in church but the condemnation that followed made me never to speak of if again. Sometimes its so vivid like it happened yesterday and other times its so distant that it can't be even put into words. Hardest thing is when its someone you trusted. And now your just suppose to forgive...hos is healing from throat level of pain, even possible. Knowing better and being better are two different things. Sometimes it's easier to not think or feel at all, that numbness rests in my Spirit instead of trust.

Oh my gosh, this is alll so true. Hiding 🙈 while saying or expecting Him to provide the one He has for us. It's easy to use this when we have our guard up. Preparing ourselves is key! I feel God has been saying "Woman, what are you doing??? Go get ready!!!" He won't present our partner to us until we are ready. You say "be open to all possibilities" and one of the specific things you mentioned is a person with kids. Why is it so wrong that I, a woman w/o kids, desires a man with the same? Why is there such a push for those of us without kids to consider someone with kids? I want the experience of starting a family with my husband, not add to his already existing one. If he has kids, and depending on how many he has, it's not a new experience for him, even if it's with me. I feel like I'm settling or having to compromise for the sake of "having a man."

Yes, definitely agree with all that was shared especially about cleansing your heart. A lot of times we don’t sit with our emotions to explore what or who is triggering those feelings. We quickly dismiss them and carry on only for them to impact us later on down the road. So the goal is to sit with our emotions not to wallow in our feelings, but to acknowledge what’s taking place internally. This is part of the healing process! Great job Stephan!

I had a man that I loved so dearly and I did everything in my power to put a smile on his face and lighten his burdens as much I could. He disappointed me so much and so many times that I couldn't take it anymore so I walked away. And I read " finding love after a heart break " it made me look into my whole relationships including the one I walked away from and made realize that I contributed to my failed relationships and I found myself...I am single and at peace finally and God is working on my heart and my life and I have never felt this whole and at peace in my entire life but my spirit tells me I am being refined for the same man I left and I am baffled. I don't know what to do and I am trying to understand why because I have met some wonderful people and I go out on dates now but I never feel that connection i had with him. Help...

Sooo wise, thank you for this video.. waiting is preparing ourselves for the next step. And prayers are sooo important, God protected me for some very tough situations in past. I wanted so hard that things worked with my ex husband, that when all was over, it was a blessing in disguise. I saw all the truth, thanks God always 🙏🏻💯

Wow...Stephan. You preached about some things I've been thinking all along. You mentioned eliminating toxic relationships such as friends and family. Be careful that you don't let others influence your decisions in your relationships. "Man, I told you she wasn't any good." "Girl he is trifling." How do they know that? I know... you're talking about your relationship to those girlfriends, homeboys, and friends, when you should be asking God for guidance. As humans, we just can't help to feel validated by what others think and say to us. Or better yet, what they say about us. The next point you stated was about submission. Many people in relationships are still misinterpreting submission. Submission does not being controlled. It means submitting to each other in a pleasant way as God intended. It means compromise, talking things out such as your finances before making big decisions. You are submitting to each other just by listening to each other. Nice topic.

It is so true not to ‘box God in’ and limit yourself because God KNOWS better than we do who the right one is, the one that speaks to our heart in a way that you’ll be glad that you chose God’s best rather than what you thought best. Often qualify takes time but it will be absolutely worth it. Settling will not.

It's tough! While u are in the waiting room...... (& not hiding). You get to see some people ...getting married. Buying a house. Finding the job of their dreams. .....& u are waiting & waiting. It gets exhausting & frustrating. What I do know is that ... It gets easier to discard people that are just wasting ur time. & u get better at healing in areas and craziness that you wouldn't see if you'd be in the wrong relation! Sigh....

A great question. Personally what I try to do, is focus on my hobbies and interests, for example I'll go out to do a paint and sip night, see a movie, go out dancing, etc. I do these things for myself. Don't hide away in your house expecting to meet people that way, but also when I go out, I'm not on the prowl for a man either. If the right man is there then I trust he'll approach me. There's nothing that I have to do to make it happen. I just focus on my own hobbies and interests and if I meet someone while doing that then cool, if not that's cool too. 😎

It’s funny, I watched this video about waiting no so much about relationships but about other breakthroughs. I’ve definitely had the whole “it is what it is mindset” and have subconsciously cancelled out the opportunity to find true love and a solid commitment after many disappointments in myself and others in different relationship dynamics. Many of the people around me are quick to say “I don’t want a relationship” but their actions always says otherwise. I’m not in denial about wanting a connection but I’m not settling for less nor will I sabotage what is meant for me just because they don’t have a specific preference I have which probably wouldn’t be a deal breaker. ❤️

Absolutely! I've been waiting for two years. Of course, with a few mistakes on the way... Lots of struggle and suffering. But thing is, since the first day I finally broke up my last relationship, I felt ready for the next and ultimate one. Truth is God has transformed me since then in a way I simply couldn't question the "delay". Now I feel more prepared, but I can't say I'm ready, cause I know I'm still healing and growing in faith and love for Him, my most beloved. It is good to remember that, especially when it hurts. God is perfect! ❤
