I don’t think Nintendo would cannibalize their holiday sales especially since they want to beat the PS2 sales record. Switch 2 can go from reveal to launch in a super short window. I think announcement and reveal would be in January, February has another trailer, launch March or April for new fiscal year.

We'll prolly get a direct in Sep/Aug and then the Switch 2 will prolly be revealed in 2025. cuz we have some months this year w/o any games in august, december, feb 25, and march 25 (i feel like nintendo will shadow drop a game in august with an august direct, and then revealing the christmas/december game prolly a new one, and then give us some remasters for feb and mar 25, im guessing an fzero gx remake, the metroid 2+3 games (im thinking 2 will be fully remastered cuz it shares alot of assets with prime 1), and maybe some zelda/kirby game) it is weird that we have NO announced kirby game for 2024.

I’m guessing August teaser since there’s currently no first party release set August, not even DLC. So August teaser will give a release month and will possibly highlight and confirm some features like backward compatibility, as everyone seems to think but hasn’t been confirmed yet. Then September Direct being a cross-gen focused Direct that hints at a release date of Switch 2. Then a big blowout reveal either December 30 (last Monday of 2024) or sometime in January. That’s my guess, I say again guess, for the reveal process. As for release date, I’d guess at either March 7 (first Friday of the month) or March 14 (second Friday of the month).

I doubt we'll see this switch 2 during this calendar 📅 year. Early 2025 like next January or February or March 2025 is possible. Nintendo doesn't want to jeopardize current switch consoles sales for this holiday season. The legend of Zelda Echoes of wisdom game is getting a special edition switch lite console this September. I wouldn't be surprised Nintendo doing switch oled bundles for the Mario and Luigi brotherhoodship game and the new Mario party game for this holiday season. Plus Nintendo didn't drop the prices for the current switch consoles yet Sunbro.

I think the reason they said the reveal would take place in the fiscal year is because they're giving themselves some leeway in case they run into further delays. The rumor about the internal delay indicated that the delay happened because the launch games weren't ready, and with rumors of the console and some of its games (for example, the rumored open world 3D Mario game) being incredibly powerful, intensive, and ambitious, they might find they need even more time. By giving us a broader window as to when we could see it, they keep their options open depending on how smoothly development goes and then they're free to announce it when the launch lineup can be solidified. I think they've learned from the Switch that the launch lineup is critically important so they want another 2017-esque lineup for the Switch 2. If they don't think they can get it, they'll delay it until they can.

I think the switch would definitely still be popular, even if the switch to is a successor because they still could be making games for the switch when the successor comes out maybe similar to what PlayStation 2 was doing on PlayStation 3 was coming out. Both consoles call exist, and I think switch 2 would be backwards compatible with the regular switch.

I think late August they will reveal the Switch 2. With a hardware game special Nintendo Direct in mid September. With a March 2025 release. And no the reveal of the Switch 2 will not effect Zelda Switch lite sales or any of the game sales for holiday 2024.

@@lukemurray66Technically, March would still be in the fiscal year. Nintendo’s fiscal years run from April 1 to March 31. But I definitely don’t see them waiting for 3/4 of another year or possibly longer to release. They’ve been having diminishing sales since 2020 when people were expecting Switch Pro to release and the next-gen consoles started coming out. They’ll only release later than March if they want to piss off the investors.
