Best advice: Obey the law, keep your vehicle in GOOD operating condition, and you probably will not be stopped! If the police aren't busy and they need to meet their quota for the month, they will look for reasons to pull you over. Be courteous if you are pulled over. Also, they will look for reasons to pull you over to detect if you have been drinking, using drugs, etc.

I grew up in east Texas and our parents made us believe if you drive without shoes (and get caught) you'll get a ticket LOL. Well, one time I got pulled over for a taillight (I was 16) and about got shot trying to fish my flip-flops from under my seat lol. That's the day I learned it was just our parents trying to prevent an accident from our shoes from getting stuck under our pedals lol. #OnlyInTexas

Actually, I have had my sandals catch on the pedal and it's very disconcerting! It's happened to me twice in all my yrs of driving! I used to drive long distances barefoot. I don't so much anymore. Don't know why. No reason in particular.

What's funnier is when I would stop someone for a minor equipment violation and they would have a felony warrant for their arrest. You are wanted and get caught for a headlight being out? That was funny.

@FreerunningGamer , Yes, but it could have taken place anywhere. There was nothing particularly "Texas" about what happened. He just got pulled over for a light being out and got a little paranoid about it. He even joked about it probably being something that happens to a lot of people no matter where they're from. When you read the title, don't you expect that he is going to point out some peculiarity specific to being pulled over *in Texas* ? The title could have just been "When you get pulled over." That's all I'm saying.

You do NOT want to be pulled over in Texas. 8 out of 10 officers are run of the mill, and then you have the other 2 good ole boys that will pop up in your nightmares the rest of your life​@@jameswoodard4304
