Why are you so quick to get back into another relationship? Can you not be alone? Grieve the relationship and take time to be alone.

This guy ,who admitted he was abused ,is so strong and will help other men to admit that they were abused by a woman in their life as well. I feel so happy when someone gets free of that. Life is so precious,so fleeting. I believe this is a Churchill quote “When you are going through hell- keep going”. Just found this show and now listen to it often.

Isn't that everyone? I always tell people that expectations are the thief of joy. Try to love and live in the now, because life is fleeting. It's so easy to compare to Joe Schmoe down the street, but comparison is the other thief of joy.

Thank you for discussing OCD. So many of us have loved ones with OCD who we have no idea how to support without falling into family accommodations traps. You spoke to your caller with kindness, understanding and the need to empower themselves through accountability. All things that not only help them but those they love. So thank you!! ❤

You won’t find one clip of John asking a woman that was abused why she looks for abusive men, and here we are with him asking this guy that. Johns double standards when talking to men are absolutely insane if you watch enough of these

Hi, current research suggests people tend to not consciously realize red flags because it feels "familiar" if you grew up in an abusive home. It's a murky area because sometimes people deep down know they're being treated wrongly, but are in denial since they had to survive in the past with denial as a main coping mechanism, such as when they were a child. The survival programming can run very deep, and sometimes people can't see it, sometimes they can. Since there are children involved, this may play into why he is taking a blunt approach of holding someone responsible for having that programming although I agree with you it's not the caller's fault they were abused. I think it's best to focus on encouraging people to take accountability for creating change in dating patterns and empowering ability to discern red flags but regardless of gender, language should be careful to avoid sounding blameful.

Without expectations, we're dead. Spouses expect each other not to be unfaithful. Kids expect to be safe at home. Etc. I do agree, tho, that entitlement def leads to research.

All I’m going to say is watch what he says when women say they are being physically abused. He first takes a moment and say “this is not your fault. He is responsible for controlling his anger” BUT when this guy says my wife physically abused me he says “what makes you CHOOSE physically abusive women?” My problem is John changes his stance depending on if he is talking to a woman or man. He holds men accountable and then tell women it’s not their fault when the exact same thing occurs to both. The more i listen to him the more I’m disgusted by his lack of consistency when it comes to treating both genders the same.

Its not about genders. The caller said he also had an encounter before the second marriage where he was in an abusive relationship. It shows that it's a pattern in his ability to choose a partner. There's a difference.
@joamigg

@@mahimathakur6251 it's absolutely about genders. He has had women who have come in saying they have been in multiple relationships that consist of the same problem and the first thing he tells them is that they aren't crazy and it's not their fault. I don't disagree with his advice I'm just saying he's much more loving and soft toward women in the same scenario.

I agree, BUT, I think he’s looking at it like Management and Employees. If the business is failing, it’s always because of management, never the employees. I think that’s why he’s harder on men (the leader and head of the home). But me, I’m like Judge Judy. I call it as I see it.
