Not for traffic offenses anyway. Speeding and other traffic violations do not justify the deadly use of force that the PIT can cause. To loose a helicopter , you just have to enter restricted airspace, (small airports, aero space companies, and communication towers or go into cloudy areas) after that , you just need to worry about the cruisers. Cruisers never stay on top of you , you have a window of about 2 minutes to escape without a chopper looking , if you do it right. Lots of people get away in chases in Los Angeles for that exact reason

With today's tech and GPS and all I don't find it hard for an automated system that engages all semaphores (traffic lights) in red while a cruiser approaches with emergency lights on. It will save time and lives, that chase was slowed down so many times for those lights. Even put an extra led sign on the lights indicating like "Emergency" in flashing colors so others DO take the red light more seriously, I don't know. It can be easy and cheap to implement. Great chase!
