"writing a skeleton" sounds what i learned in electronic music. it was described to me as "vertical vs horizontal writing". like she said, some people write short bits and really polish them, vertical. others write at length then add detail later, vertical. being able to move from one to the other, either direction, sounds important.

First question hit home. I was that band member in college. I quit the band after 1 semester because I could not afford the travel.

I was in audio engineering school in DC 4 hrs (one way) away from my band, doing all my work, playing in multiple bands, djing and producing clubs all in DC. And still going back on the weekends to play with my original band. Once I was there at the school long enough to get access to the Million plus dollar Studio A, and my hometown band that I was referring to wouldn’t/couldn’t figure out how to get up there and do the tracking in a (for almost all musicians unattainable once in a lifetime opportunity) studio, that I could have either mixed and mastered or had it done by ppl I had met in the area 🤬😤🤬 I was the youngest, one of the original members, and handled all the behind the scenes stuff for (Gomorah Lynchburg, VA) Idk if I should blast this, but they all know it’s true. One of the reasons I chose the fArt Institute Arlington DC was because the label that released the last CD was Mike Riddick. Also from DC. Most of you here probably wear his brother’s art on your body at least once a week, if not more 😉 We had some good momentum going on, and I was beyond breaking my back. But then I broke my foot before my set at our last show, the. Had to drive back to DC the next morning and DJ and dance my rolling ass that night all night. Wake up with a bruise colored rainbow football foot lol. Then my life spiraled out of control and ive soent the last 5 years trying to get my health and body and mind and finances back in order while hitting the woodshed hard afffff. The broken foot was 2012, I thought I woukd have released more music by now, but by hanging onto certain things that I prob should’ve bowed out of, I’m 36 learning how to do it right. Don’t be me, move on, make good decisions. Both short term and most importantly long term 🦾🦾🦾
