In opposite, from his talk, after Rd3, MC spends almost all of his time until 30 secs remaining. It sign little panic. He don't know what to do to continuing his attack. But, in the end, his instinc take over, and Qf5 is the only move! and just play whatever his gut feeling (this for us, mortals, we know he activated his beast mode lol). Ofc this is not work with top level GM. His choice for Knight sacrifice early show that he cleary know to adjust his skill for the opponent. I mean if he serious from move 1, nobody can withstand. Many of super GM, including Hikaru once says that even in bad form, Magnus' mediocre move is naturally good move. Just shows us how really good his instinc from vast memories

I always get to that stage in a game where I have no ideas and I can find a refutation for every move I have available. Position isn't even lost most of the time, it's just that there's nothing productive to do (that a human can see anyway). Then I lose.

Sometimes Magnus is very impressive and this is one of those games.....followed a line he knew to be dubious in the opening, gave the opponent a piece and you might think, what the fuck is he doing? However, the guy might have been a piece up, but he couldnt do anything with it, as Magnus had the initiative and forced this opponent onto the defensive. Also, watch how he spent a lot of his time on one move, working out a plan and then after that he was just blitzing the moves out following it.....great stuff !!

You've overshot by one move. Rhf8 was played instead of Qh3. If he had chosen to play Qh3 first, then f3 pawn would've been hanging and white Qxf3 removes the threat.

I'm a beginner to chess. maybe someone can explain? cant the knight move one to the left and the game carries on? Tahnks for an explanation :)

@@TheULTRAMEGAFUSS Only move for opponent was king to G1 and then Carlsen put his queen on H1 and its over. So opponent left. The game was 100% over. Edit: opponent could move queen to G2, and Carlsen would take it with his queen and its over either way.
