I personally think comparisons between similarly priced Sony LCD’s and equally priced OLED’s would be great. A lot of us came from terrible TV’s to decently priced LCD’s, and the possible move to OLED turns some of us away, because on paper they’re less bright. I can get a C4 for the same price as a Bravia 7, and they trade blows in so many different areas.
@deanhasen32203 ай бұрын
Dude the C4’s picture is 100x better thank the Bravia 7
@noneyabizz83373 ай бұрын
That Sony reliability is also hard to argue against.
@johnb49053 ай бұрын
The Bravia 7 reflection handling is so poor it’s the C4 that will actually appear brighter with mid to low APL scenes in a bright room and in a dark room you have the pixel level 3D dimensionality of an OLED. Perhaps give the S90C a look, it’ll be brighter in every situation except for very high APL scenes. BTW, you can get a 77C3 for the price of a 65C4 and those additional inches will have much more of an impact than any improvements from the C3 to C4.
@paulcox24473 ай бұрын
They really don't trade blows if you actually see both of them. The Bravia 7 looks washed out in comparison and it's only advantage is full screen brightness. Sony didn't reinvent the wheel with the LCDs this year.

Love your work, especially the Q&A stuff, but am really looking forward to the Bravis 9 review, please hurry before I explode!! Now for question...I am thinking about buying the B9 from Value Electronics. They offer a Q/C and calibration service, kinda pricey. I live in fear of a calibration on a B9 minimizing or even ruining, what to me is the magic of a top line Sony TV picture. Am I overthinking this a straying into goofy world? Will a calibration dim it down? I have two uncalibrated Sonys and would not want to over tweak what is usually an excellent picture , to me anyway. For the money for a B9 I really want the very best picture, and I understand the subjectiveness of "best". Thanks again for all you do!!

Over 5,307 hours and counting for my LG C2 42" TV. Got this TV in middle of last year and I love it. However, I'm hoping to get a 32" 4K curved monitor so I can do some gaming. The reason why I prefer curved is so I can see the sides of the screen easily. I have my 42" TV about a couple of inches from me by using an arm mount which mounts to my desk. I understand that many people don't like curved screens and I get that. But if a curve screen can help me see better without having to move on close to the sides while gaming, that would be great.

21:9 (2.33:1) is kind of an odd aspect ratio to go with there on that for a display as it is not quite as wide as Cinemascope 2.35:1 or anamorphic Cinemascope 2.39:1. So, if you watch either of those two formats of film on your 21:9 TV/monitor you are still going to have some small black bars at the top and bottom of your screen (letterboxing) as the image would have to be shrunk down just slightly for you see the entire frame of the film.

With more brightness, comes more heat. Heat is something quite bad for electronic components, especially in terms of longevity. Hence, we will be looking at decreasing life span for TVs. To my knowledge, consumer TVs rely on passive cooling, i.e., do not have a fan to cool components down. An advice I learned the hard way is to verify the operational temperature and humidity of your TV. Some TVs work up to 35ºC (~95ºF), which is somewhat low in some parts of the Globe.

Hi Caleb, I was initially thinking of getting Sony X90L(full array led) in India which costs around $1400, however I noticed that we now have Bravia 7 available for $2350 which has 3-5x more number of dimming zones, but its still not closer to qled levels offered by other brands. I wanted an advice from you if Bravia 7 is truly a major upgrade over X90L and is it really worth the price tag, as we can have LG or even Sony A80L for $2k or less cheaper than Bravia 7. I currently have a Sony 40inch HD tv which is going to cross a decade, and I wanted to buy the next TV which is going to age well over the next 7-10yrs. My budget is around $2-2.5k.

As someone with a 21:9 computer monitor, you may think you want a tv with that but you don’t. Content looks super cool when it takes advantage of it but there is so much more that doesn’t. It would be great for movies and that’s basically it. Even with PC games that “support” 21:9 the majority of them only do it during regular gameplay, when you hit a cutscene you get pillarboxes taking it down to 16:9. As great as it looks with a game like Doom Eternal, it really makes it feel like it’s not worth it when you realize you could have had a bigger screen that is used all the time rather than having black bars 1/3 to 1/2 of the time. I can’t imagine how it is for people with 32:9 monitors.

With display capability taking a leap in terms of hdr picture quality, all the more reason we don't need 16:9 super expensive flagship to watch 20 years old TV sitcom for sure. We need to get away from this idea that any one aspect ratio is "right" for everything. To have to rip, crop, and re-encode legitimately purchased content for it to display properly on a wider monitor is really irritating, and this habit of encoding everything at 16:9 also limits what else you could do to experiment with new aspect ratios for TVs. I'm tired of needing multiple TVs or some expensive box to watch more than one thing at a time on a single screen. Someone should either develop an OS for set top boxes based around the idea of support for all resolutions by emphasizing multiple apps/inputs being displayed at once, or someone needs to create a window manager for existing OSes that works well with a media remote to facilitate this.
@sunshinecycling3 ай бұрын
Remember though, EVERYTHING, was on 4:3 until it wasn't. Perhaps 21:9 will never happen if cutting the mother glass that way is too expensive. But "everything being on 16:9" isn't really the answer. If things get filmed and broadcast in 21:9, then that's the new norm. I kind of like the idea tbh. But I think the TVs would get even bigger.

@@CarreraTrackOntheFloor It does, but true. Most LED TV's will last 60,000-100,000 hours. Of course there are many dynamics at play, it depends on the type of content you watch, how well you look after it, things like backlight brightness for regular viewing outside of HDR. ... it also depends what you spend. Samsung, Sony and Panasonic have all said they expect 22,23,2024 OLED's to last 100,000 hours across most models. I have an LED from panasonic, from 2016, that's had, on average, 10 hours a day. Still zero issues... We've seen OLED catch up with longevity. Don't test TVs on the public unless you back them...I won't buy LG products any more. 10 years plus required no matter how many hours...bar was set by previous quality tvs not me.

CX 48" using as a computer monitor.. 19,128 hours as of just now.. not even a hint of burn in... however, I practice as many screen saving measures as possible... autohide the task bar.. no desktop icons.. i vigilantly avoid any images/graphics from being static for more than a couple days (when the monitor is on).. I also alway turn off the tv when I leave my desk.. will buy another OLED when this one buys the farm

Anybody here with the tcl c855/c89b? What is good/bad?
@imlegend81083 ай бұрын
There arent too many bad things about it. The main problem is that its a TCL. The good part is that its at least a TV at all

@@imlegend8108 any dse? How's live sports? Maybe few years and new 800 chip tcl and hisense will take over ...

I’m surprised you would allow a few commenters to spark a topic in a video. If people want Bravia 7 or 9 that bad, they can go buy one and review it themselves.

They trust his viewpoint on these topics before buying something of this price. Some people like me just enjoy watching his videos & can’t wait to hear what he has to say. They actually make my day & im sure others also.

@@Richie_Red I’m in the same boat. Otherwise why watch the video. Maybe I didn’t make my point clear. Why make a video responding to people complaining about a review not being out fast enough? As a KZbin creator myself, albeit very small, I wouldn’t ever be explaining myself to via a video to commenters. Unless it was truly warranted. People complain.

You act like he was never going to review the Bravia 7 or 9, I guess you missed the title of Sundays video's. "you asked"
