How long should TVs last? Testing would be difficult and there's no baseline benchmark. I understand it should be worked out in "hours on" instead of "years lasted". Thanks for all the videos with all the tremendous information. I should be upgrading soon near the holidays. LCD LED cons: backlight and PSU failure. OLED cons: OLED burn in, pixel degradation and dims over time. QLED cons: backlight failure. Larger TVs consume more power and lifespan is shorter.

I wish that sharp was still around making modern 4k tvs. I used to use a tv vhs combo from sharp back in the 90s. I even used a tv that required using a rotating dial knob to change the channels and an antenna to get decent tv reception. I'm just glad that the modern tvs are not as heavy as the old crt tvs lol. It makes moving the tv much easier to move when using a tv stand. It's good to see panasonic coming back to making modern tvs since they have 4k blu ray players. It's too bad that oppo no longer makes 4k blu ray players since they have focused on making smartphones instead of having both like the modern 4k blu ray players while also having a separate division for there 4k blu ray players and smartphones similar to sony and samsung. Samsung and sony both still sells phones, tvs and 4k blu ray players so it's a possibility for other manufacturers to do similar things and make similar products but with there own engineering while supporting the products and services for consumers to buy. Unfortunately, people only know about certain products as long as the manufacturers market there products thru advertising or thru consumers that are interested in niche products.

Seems like Panasonic will slot right in between that spot between LG/Samsung and Sony. Most of the panels max capability are going to probably be similar (G4 MLA WOLED vs Z95A MLA WOLED, S95D vs A95L QD-OLEDs etc), just slight differences in video processing, heat dissipation and audio implementation. not really expecting them to come out with some new miniled/oled technology so they'll probably continue to put their software processing stack on whatever LG/Samsung Displays gives them

As someone who prefers to de-Googlefy my life, I have to give credit to Samsung and Google for coming up with an open source format. Maybe one day Linux will have IAMF and I could see myself having an IAMF-capable home theater processor processor so I could start mixing in 5.1.4, which would be awesome to have. I actually created a THX "Deep Note"-inspired sound effect that starts with coming from behind and moves smoothly to the front 3 speakers. Mixing 5.1 is difficult in Ardour, but I'm able to pull it off.

I’m guessing your marginally more excited about the W95a LCD over the Z95 OLED due to its price point. The flagship OLED comes only 65” and is as expensive as a tv gets in that size so its market will be tiny by comparison. The W95 being Panasonics flagship LCD is way more competitively priced so it will be interesting to see how it holds up verses the other flagship LCDs available. I won’t pay the “Sony Tax” for the B9 but if the Panasonic can get close for so much less it could be a big winner. The little I’ve seen it has a more user friendly menu particularly with picture settings. Really hoping it is a value champ. I have 3 Panasonic upper-mid level edge lit LCDs from 2013-2014 still performing like new. For me I’m torn between the X90L, X93L(few available), B7 and perhaps the W95. I have Roku & Fire attached to every tv and home theatre systems but watch mostly antenna and some Blu-ray. Upscaling and the ability to watch football during the day in my bright living room are critical to me.

Introducing another 3D sound format now seems a bit like introducing a new video tape format in the 80's after VHS beat beta - pointless - to mix metaphors, the horse has already bolted. DTS:X is already been out for nearly as long as Atmos, and there is hardly anything that makes use of it, whereas there is tons and tons of content that supports Atmos now. I guess given this is open source, and presumably free, or at least a lot cheaper than Atmos - if there is a decent buck to be saved, it might gain some traction - but I remain skeptical...

It unfortunately felt lackluster as a gamer once the CX was around (but the FZ800 processing and color accuracy was sooo much better particularly black handling). The menus were also very simplistic and reliable for adjusting picture settings fast and easy on the fly. IAMF: Who wants another 3D Audio interpolation system? And there would have to be a MAMMOTH marketing campaign to ever get movies discreetly encoded with this new format. Even a DTS-based 'Atmos-lke' codec would have a hard time in today's market. Dolby got the drop on everyone, this time around: Immersive audio IS Dolby Atmos.

What's THE POINT? We have the BIG THREE: Sony, LG, Samsung PLUS!: TLC & Hisense. The market is stupidly saturated already. Not to mention tons of PC monitors that are already being dubbed as TV's. UNLESS Pana has a "secret" weapon they're not telling us, it's basically DOA. They are not gonna selling many sets to make a dent in profit.
