Where do we go for surplus and reclaimed DIY materials?

Thankfully, in addition to online classified ads (like Craigslist, OfferUp and Facebook Marketplace) there are a handful of stores within an hour of us where we can source materials for our projects that don't cost an arm and a leg.
For our DIY projects, as often as we can, we like to use reclaimed, surplus or B-stock materials. Places like "The Rebuilder's Center" or "ReStore" is a great place to scavenge but today we're going to "Building Material Resources, Inc" (BMR for short). Just in case you're in range of Sherwood, OR, here's their web site with more info.
www.materialfo...
Today, we're inviting you with us to see what we find and also give you a taste of some upcoming DIY projects we've got brewing in future episodes.
Thanks for watching!

What a wonderful place. Lots of great things to be found. In my area in Queensland Australia we have two Tips (Dumps) that both have a revolve store, full of lots of goodies for inside and outside the home. I have bought a couple of chest of drawers that I will restore one day. I paid $30 and $35 each and both are timber, which will be beautiful once completed. But my current project is my wonderful chicken coop, my husband ordered me last week. Only have been talking(nagging) about for months, he finally gave in. It will be here by weeks end, then the hard part of putting it together. My idea is to have a coop raising party everyone brings tools, and I feed those that turn up, once coop is together. Then will be the excitement of choosing my girls, they will be pets. Guaranteed a long life in our family. Love the content of your channel Renee & David.

Love that! We have all the materials to fence in our garden. Just need the weather to cooperate. 😂

Interested to see the changing table that you're going to be building. Make sure there's lots of color in it babies really react to color!

Haven't decided on the color yet. Would like it to complement other colors in the room. It will be in our guest room, which has a colorful quilt from my grandma, so I have lots of options. I also plan to wall mount a mobile and maybe a mirror to entertain them.

Hi Renee!! Can you do a video canning 1 jar meals from the Ball canning book? I know you and Becky did a video but I’d love to see you tackle this job in your home. Thanks in advance!! Merry Christmas! Xxoo

Hi Susan! Hope you had a wonderful Christmas too! Because this channel focuses primarily on DIY, I’m actually working on starting a new channel just for cooking and gardening. Hope to launch in the next few months. 🥰

This looks like a great place. I do hope you film the dresser conversion. That would be a fun video to watch. Your relationship is so respectful. It’s so nice to watch folks who don’t talk over one another. PS: every barn needs a barn cat 😂

Wow! I was admiring all of the old windows. You’re lucky to have a place like that! I went to my local Habitat for Humanity ReStore this past Saturday, and found nothing. At least they were open, which often is not the case. I can’t wait to see what you build with your finds!

The windows they have are amazing! I've seen people turn old windows into greenhouses. What would you do with them?

This was a fun field trip! We have a place in Boise called Second Chance that is similar. We bought a lot of things there when we were restoring our old house.
