Yup. Getting started from scratch on YT now is so different then what it used to be. Mind you, my old account (this one) has a bunch of things that isn't available to newer channels because I've got stuff grandfathered in. I'm not even at 5k followers but I can monetize my stuff and make my own thumbnails. I just received an email from Google saying they deactivated my adsense account because I'm not using it on the 3 videos I have on my channel currently. I still want to use my YT channel at some point, but it's not gonna be my priority like I thought it would. The growth on TikTok is WAY better than on here.

@@SnooDoodle yeah, but at the same time tik tok kinda sucks. And plus they spy on you religiously. Not like Google does any better but tik tok is owned by China.

I didn't know that custom thumbnail are now for monetize channels. I was thinking about making a said channel for video essay, I have to rethink that idea now.

I grew up on KZbin and I've started to use it less and less it, was a place were I watched creative and entertaining people do what they enjoy but now it feels like more of a business site like yeah there still are youtubers who I will watch for entertainment but now mainly I get the joy of seeing people be creative and being themselves from tiktok. I feel like KZbin has lost its fun and creativeness in recent years

I grew up on KZbin as well and it’s honestly upsetting to see how the site has changed how it has. This is not what the site was supposed to be when I was first created

I've noticed it and I've accepted that I just enjoyed posting on KZbin and leave it as that period as for channels I followed whether it's educational or art related or anything else eventually disappeared where the creative disappears because it burned out and suddenly come back with a whole new course a patrion or a book to sell and that's why they'll no longer post on KZbin all that much because they want to develop an exclusive community that's been the biggest thing and at 1st I'm perfectly fine with it but now it's happening so regularly that I wonder if KZbin will become a graveyard Of creative content

KZbin used to be my comfort place, where I'd spend hours on end watching videos, but now all of the bs changes and deceit makes me turn to tik tok and twitch for my art inspiration and entertainment

Honestly I don't know where to go in terms of content anymore. It almost seems like everywhere is sh*t nowadays algorithm wise and for my mental health wise. It's hard to grow when there's a certain algorithm that pushes your content downwards so nobody can see it. I don't want to go sites that cause my mental health to deteriorate like tumblr, instagram and amino. My last hope could be through Twitter but then again Twitter is kinda sh*t too. I may just quit social media all together and just entertain myself. The only traction I seem to get however is through deviantart. Idk man. Being a content creator is hard and it's mentally draining.

It's sad, definitely. The landscape is so drastically different and it continues to get harder and harder to get anywhere on this website unless you were here BEFORE the giant boulder started rolling down the hill towards you at an alarming speed. Like, twitch is also kind of ROUGH because there was the copyrighted music stuff and the waves of bots which swarm channels and get them taken down if they're anything other than white, heterosexual and cis playing games/talking/doing art. Had no idea about the custom thumbnail thing, that's fucked. I've not used YT to post videos (in earnest) in years tbh so these things fly right by me.

I literally just discovered your channel and to be honest, you've got some good points. Because of KZbin's algorithm, there are so many people out there who can't grow their channel, but have some banger content. It really sucks. Thanks for the awareness on it

Thanks for talking about this, I was wondering how you're feeling about your sub/view ratio (mine is dreadful, and there are others that are surprisingly low as well for no obvious reason). I have noticed youtube ruined their search function (?), which was kind of the main opportunity us small bois ever had, so it's... I dunno, it's been hard justifying this kind of work/time lately. KZbin definitely demands the biggest workload per piece out of all the media I've tried so far.

This is sad. I had no idea. I do indeed miss old art KZbin. I miss the choppy just ramble videos. Now it’s like you need to direct a whole ass film to be an art KZbinr but you still don’t get the payoff. Not only that but only certain types of artist are being promoted I see so it’s becoming harder and harder (No shade to them) It just sucks. But I’ll support you wherever you go.

I feel like I see so many channels with genuinely good content (like yours) but because their system rewards clicks, "clickbait" material is what makes the top. You have so many good points. No dis on any specific channels in particular though. Commenting to help your algorithm. I will definitely follow you on twitch
