I loved the Brooklyn funk remixes of If You Want Me and YouThink You Own Me, I also loved the Full Crew Remix of I Wanna Be Your Lady. I wasn't sure about the original versions.

I think Hinda got caught up in the label/artist changes when Universal Music bought Polygram, owner of the Polydor, Mercury, Def Jam, Motown, Island, A&M and Fontana record labels. A lot of singers and bands were dropped, transferred or careers held up by executives who were restructuring based on sales and expenditure. Samantha Mumba was locked into her Polydor contract for 7 years despite only releasing 1 album and execs wouldn't release any new material - her career was basically destroyed. Hinda was fantastic, but she didn't stand a chance, the labels were signing too many people and not committing to them. Steph, you really should give us a First Avenue management profile, they managed most of the acts you've profiled. For good or bad, Dennis Ingoldsby and Oliver Smallman managed to find the bulk of Black British Pop-R&B talent, secure them deals and put them in the mainstream, they had the midas touch.

I totally agree! Due to the label changes, Hinda got lost and then unfortunately dropped. I’ll see what I can do with putting together a video on First Avenue Management’s profile, as I do have a few videos of some of the artists signed with First Avenue coming up soon :)

A correction … Hinda was born to a Tunisian mother (beautiful mother) and actually a French natural father and British step father 👍🏾

Can I put a request in? Or rather 2 if you’re able to find much. There were 2 girl bands around at the late 00s/early 2010s called Vida who sang Boombox and Vanquish who sang The Harder You Love. It seems like they had the one song then disappeared entirely

I never heard of them. Do you remember Girls@Play, "Airhead and Respectable, and Fe-m@il, who sang "Flee Fly Flo"? They were both in the early 2000s. Also, do you remember a singer called Lisa Roxanne, who sang No Flow?

@@flowerofthesouth Oh yes I do remember them all! I’ve been looking into Lisa Roxanne actually, but there’s not much info on her at all. But I’ll see if I can at least make a short video with the bits of info dotted around the internet.
