gta 5 map was probably one of the more shallow/boring open world maps like as if they knew they were gonna use most of that space for online they did improve allot with their map design in red dead 2 maybe some of that carries over like riding arround in a city shooting at stuff can be fun but like for a couple minutes and not allot of interior spaces you can visit most of them are stores and barbershops like most of gta 5 takes place outside but it would have been nice if there were maybe some side missions for franklyn or trevor where you could rob houses or something like that. like cyberpunks map on launch was more interesting and fun to explore with the shitload of interior spaces you could go into aswell like on a pretty small place in cyberpunk you can find more stuff to do than in the whole city of los santos to be fair there is quite some years between the 2 games and with advancements of technology it is possible to make large and dense maps but if we would lets say compare gta 5's map to skyrim's map then skyrim's map is also more impressive with all the stuff there is to do and side quests you can find and locations to explore and that game came out in 2011 like the cities may have like 6 people living in them or atleast that is what it feels like sometimes but still the entire map feels more allive or something like in gta 5 you may find gangs in their hoods and stuff like that but apart from shooting them or running them over during missions they dont really serve a purpose nad you have no reason apart from story missions to deal with them like some simple repeatable small jobs to do like drug dealing with those gangmembers or something else could have added a purpose like it would have been nice if there were some more illegal ways in that game to get money that isnt purely relying on missions and the stock market pretending to be a rugpuller like there are some legal buisnesses you can get but most are really expensive and they take a while to make any ammount of money and they come with the most boring jobs but in my opinion allot of online features they have now should have been in the story mode and then more fleshed out like online has street dealers you can sell product to you can have methlabs weedfarms and all that kinds of stuff in online but it feels kinda shallow for online because they kinda had to make it so it doesnt really have much impact i guess on the grind like why can't i littaraly start cooking and selling meth as trevor like its established he is a meth dealer so why don't we get to do that and make a shit ton of breaking bad memes whilst doing it
