Personally, I think Szarekh is taking the subtle route so as not to put an even larger target on himself. It’s one thing to have the Sautekh Dynasty, the Eldar, and some Imperials aware and active against him, they are a relatively small opposition in the grand scheme of the galaxy. It’s a wholly different matter when both the entire Imperium and Chaos designate the Silent King’s destruction a top priority when they find out about his presence as an “anti-Emperor”. Since Necrons are most vulnerable to surgical strikes at leadership, it only makes sense to minimize his obvious influence. And what happens when the Orks find out about the newest, biggest thing to krump? Even the Infinite Empire stands little chance of surviving all those threats at once. Szarekh’s true power lies not in its overtness, but in its gentle application. This is why he was able to undermine the C’tan and use the Aeldari’s eventual fall and the Krorks’ devolution against them with the Great Sleep. The last thing the Silent King needs is even more interference in his plans, and showing himself off like other Necron nobles is counter to his goals and methodology.

@@wikipediaintellectual7088 Being the Silent King in and of itself is a vastly more effective soft control than trying to micromanage every proxy’s circle of influence. Besides, such behavior would be seen as more cowardly than tactful, not a very kingly trait. Trazyn the Infinite does exactly this and you know what kind of reputation he has with his own kind. Not a good look for Szarekh when his objective is to reunite his people under him, willingly I might add. If he’s going to make waves, even one’s unseen, then he’s going to have to have the weight to do it since force isn’t his preferred means of exercising authority.

@@overlordinquisitor6565 I would love it if Szarekh was dealing with Imotekh's opposition by trying to direct on him a little more of the Imperium's and Eldar's attention than would be considered normal ;D In the meantime he would discretely continue to amass forces and limit his conquests of other races worlds. When Imotekh's forces are starting to be cornered by Imperium, Eldar, Tyranid and Chaos forces, Szarekh would help and finally win his allegiance. That would be the biggest opportunity for Necrons to become numero uno. And also let Anrakyr meet him and cry oily tears of joy! :O

Szarekh is maybe laying in wait to take control, think about it, if most of the other necron nobles die in combat against the other 40k factions szarekh can swoop in and take control over the other surviving necron factions and unite them under his banner reuniting the necron empire with him as king and with almost no nobles planning to overthrow him Szarekh will ultimately rule as king. Then the imperium will have a far greater struggle on there hands

I'd love for you to make a video about the lost primarchs, but basing it on what their roles and powers might have been, by process of elimination in seeing what powers the emperor has, that arent represented in the remaining 18, as well as personality traits.

The issue is there's still a lot of overlap between some of the primarchs, despite each of them being "a facet of the Emperor". I don't think it would narrow it down enough, especially because of how complex (and still enigmatic) the Emperor is a person/character. That being said, my personal head canon is that at least one of them took on his passion and understanding of science and genetic manipulation. He took his experiments too far and something went catastrophically wrong and so he was censured by the Emperor. There's not really a primarch that wholely embodies his interest and ability in those pursuits, and it would explain why Sanguinius was so scared of censure when his son's started to develop genetic flaws.

personally I would love to see the story of the Ynnari developed further! But oh well probably won't happen anytime soon. Regarding the silent king, why does he actually care about the Tyranids? The Necrons are are "undead" metal skeletons. No need for biomass/food and all. Furthermore the Tyrnids seem to try to avoid Necron tombs. Just let them kill off the living part of the galaxy and then die of starvation or move on and then rule the dead galaxy ;)

He does still have them, indirectly. Triarch Praetorians still have their protocols fully active and since they’re still unquestionably loyal to the Triarch ie Szarekh, he can just vicariously assert his will over anyone and everyone if push comes to shove.

@@bobbyrabii6119 Praetorians are kind of like the Necron Inquisition. They operate outside of the traditional power structure and can issue an override command even a Phaeron/Phaerakh cannot disobey. And if they do, the Triarch Praetorians can simply cancel the offender’s resurrection protocols and use their Rods of Covenant to turn them into molting slag.

The why reason is probably meta and not in-universe. Correctly writing major events involving the Necrons are going to be hard, and must be done sparingly by design - this is because the Necrons are so absurdly stupidly powerful that unless care is taken from a narrative point of view, having them just *do* stuff *will* break the setting. GW is very close already to writing themselves into a corner with the Necrons by bringing Szarekh back, as he's genuinely a big E level being in terms of the narrative, and unlike the other entities in that class in the lore, he's free to do whatever he damn well pleases. As much as I want more books involving the Necrons, they can't just show up everywhere, quality is *necessary* here.

a cool way that Szarekh could come back into the spotlight that I've been thinking on for awhile is imagine is Szarekh revived Sanguinius like how Yvraine did for Guillimen so you would have the lord regent of Imperium Sanctus working with Eldar behind closed doors and the lord regent of Imperium Nihilus (cause lets face it is their Primarch returns Dante is handing over that title) working with the Necrons behind closed doors that could allow for so much intrigue in the lore too brother face to face after so long having to keep a secret that is basically heretical in nature from each other

This has to be a big part of what’s in the pipeline, there’s literally nobody else capable of staving off chaos and the tyranids. After the necrons help deal with them, the the newly unified Aeldari will have probably have an important role to play in snuffing them out, with the imperium’s help (and probably some more returned primarchs).

Chaos isn't the real the threat as much as the "great tyranid hive fleet" to the necrons if he wants to restore his race. The great tyranid hive fleet theory is that the splinters are just a scout fleet then greater is out there. @@Khobai 40k isn't a bad or stupid story story, everything is done for a reason or said purpose. Necrons-a weaker not long lived race that wanted power and went against the old ones. Old ones started beating them back to their home system and they turned to c'tan then getting tricked in to giving up their souls and flesh. Outside of nobles or main leaders most their race terminator style robots and ofc they got their revenge. At the same time szarekh got his on the c'tan by shattering them for their actions. Yes it's bad with the main story of 40k being trying to repair what is lost or find something to restore it. 40k is mostly everything is in decay of some sort, most if the writing will lead the endings writing themselves into dark black holes to this end.

Especially as Path of the Eldar has stopped (I get it may be sales related but hype and literature creates sales). Get the writer for Infinite and the Divine to have The Silent King pull the Stormlord's leash, decide to take some of the Craftworld technology to amplify his anti-Rift ideas. The Eldar who hate the Necrons should be going for him like Vect, he is a bigger older threat than literally anyone to do with the Imperium or even the Chaos Gods.

Honestly I think it was the right move. The niches of “mindlessly consume all life” and “serve the dark gods” were already taken by Tyranids and Chaos. Applying both to Necrons wasn’t the best use for a robot faction. Redundancy like that constricts the scale of 40k I feel. Newcrons have more potential both in lore and on the tabletop whilst also keeping Oldcrons completely viable.
