The best time to scout for stand placement is December and January. Why ? Because you're looking at fresh sign like rubs, scrapes and beds of the bucks. Most people wait until September and start looking when its thick and nasty out there. I've shot a bunch of bucks from scouting in late winter and hanging stands in good places. You can also hunt bt doe bedding areas during the rut. I've hunted this way on public and private for years and it works great!!

That is definitely a good time to get your stand set. Yes I have some on the fringes of doe bedding myself. Catch them big boys cursing just gotta be out there when they are. Thanks for the tips!
