ABOUT:
Hi! I’m Valeria, and I’m an expat and digital nomad, currently living in Italy. I first came here without speaking the language and being totally unprepared, but pretty sure this is gonna be an adventure of a lifetime! I love discovering Italian culture, Italian people and, of course, Italian food. I'm a full-time content creator, so when I'm not making travel videos, I'm taking photos, writing and creating artworks. Studying is another passion of mine, and currently I’m finishing my Masters degree at the University of Bologna. Here I post regular travel vlogs, tips on expat life, moving abroad, personal growth and self-esteem as a woman living abroad, so hop on and welcome on board!

Ciao Valeria! Obviously I LOVE Florence, being that I live here. But let's not forget the south of Italy. Soon I actually will be looking to move to Sicily. My dream is to live along the sea. I am a bit older, 54, so my wants and needs may be different from others. I agree with your list, but, as you said, there are so many places in Italy that are amazing, that these kinds of lists just can't name them all. Nice to see you today! A presto, Paul in Firenze

I’m spending next summer in Italy and decided Balzano was the place. Beautiful city, awesome scenery, very manageable and great access to Milan, the Dolomites and places south. Great video, thanks!

I am Italian from Milano and I, in a way or another, disagree with you. Trento and Bolzao are lovely cities but they are "in the middle of nowhere" and really small cities. They are up too in the north to be even considered "italian" in some ways. Things works there and is nice to live there for a number of rasons but there are a lot of throwbacks. If somone expect Italy, just a little, as "sun" and "relaxed", that part of Italy will just let them unsoddisfied. Warm in summer and really cold in winter, those are nountain cities. Snow 4 month a year. Bologna, on the other side, is something in between, it is "near" the sea, it have a nerly good wether generally and good cultural activities. On my point of view... if you are looking for top of the notch business opportunities and good cultural events, head to Milano and Bologna as a second joice. If you are looking for " la dolce vita" you should head more in the central/south (Roma or Napoli) If you are looking for sea and warm weather all the year, had to souther reagions (do not expect too much on the services side there) Fodd is good everywhere here and you will find a lot of unexpected specialities you will not expect anywhere you go, so do not be drive by that.

How about turino? I’m looking for culture, the arts, outdoor sports, friendly people. It’s a by far from the sea though. Maybe Genoa (but then farther from the sea). Haha I want the “perfect” place 😅

@@heroinevoyages You got me on that! I do not like Torino a lot. Torino is a lovely city, nice culture, beatifull city center,.... but not one of my favourites. It is not a place I would live in, just because it is "something in between". It is not the best place to be for business, it is not the best place to be for events/culture, it is not the place to be for weather or whatever. It is lovely city but (as my personal opinion) it is "cold". Do not misunderstand me, I am talking about the feeliing i have in the city. All the northern italian people should be considered as "cold" if you are expecting the iconic warn italians salute and praise anywhere and everywhere. We are selective on the people we meet but unce we connect to them we are not friends, we are FRIENDS

I'm considering moving to Italy with my family (me + wife + 2 kids). What do you think which city is better for such family (we like sun but not too hot weather): Turin, Brescia/Verona, Bologna? I work remotely, so main factors are a friendly to expats environment, good education options for kids, the healthcare system and certainly a good weather.

The mentioned are fairly expensive, especially for a family to move to. Love Bologna myself, but real estate pricing is really on the highest end... I'd see into Padua or even Udine.

I agree about Trento: the best city by far. Bolzano is beautiful but too expensive if you want to buy a house, unless you can afford paying 500K€ for an apartment.

Hallo! It would be cool to have your point of view on Trieste. I am from Bologna, I live in Berlin with my german bf and fell in love with Torino and Trieste as a tourist, but while I know Torino is big enough for every kind of activities, I think Trieste is pretty quiet and small, but it is sooo beautiful. It would be great to have an "expat's review" (if I haven't overseen it 😅). Have a nice day!
