Always flight with chocolate. Good, dark, tablet of chocolate (buy at the airport if necessary). Once I got stuck in Canada because of an airline, and chocolate save my sanity. Also, it is thw type of fat that is good for you, and the type of food that gives you a good feeling. Even better than coffee. Chocolate for flying. I swear by it. ✨🙂

For decades, I've traveled with my own pillowcases from home whether on domestic or international vacations. That way if I end up in a hotel with not the greatest bed linens, at least my head/face is on a really good pillowcase. I pack both rectangular ones and and square ones which is for hotels of all star levels, except when I'm at Four Seasons Hotels both here and overseas. For me, Four Seasons Hotels have the best bed linens and also mattresses. Guests can even buy the mattresses. A good night's sleep is essential especially when one is jet lagged out of one's mind after doing 20-plus hours of flying to get somewhere. Greetings from Los Angeles

100% agree with taking a photo of what you look like in an outfit. I did this before I packed for my last trip and it was eye opening. Mostly around which shoes I wear with a specific outfit. It was upfront work but it really helped me determine which outfits to bring and which shoes worked best.

Karen I would love to see you do a "Trinny style shop up" with some of your subscribers sometime, taking them to either some vintage shops, or to a Zara or similar style shop where you can advise them on styling outfits like a personal stylist according to their budget. I think there would be a lot of subscribers in your area who would jump at a chance to have you help them shop to take your advice and I think it would make a brilliant series for you to film for your channel. Maybe something to look into in the new year?

Precheck is worth it! I always wear my favorite, lightweight, cotton anorak coat with a hood and a big, blanket style scarf when flying! I always wear slip-on sneakers, and take a zipped bag of nuts and dried fruit, and some dried jerky. Since our experience at a beautiful, old hotel at South-end-by-the-Sea, where we got bitten all over by bed bugs, I take my own sleeping bag that I can throw on top of the bed and throw into the washer/ dryer after. I always carry an extra, all purpose shoe. I forgot to pack my lace up boot for my son's medieval theme wedding but the little strappy sandals that I had worked. Always a cardigan, light blazer and a Zella workout jacket that I can use as a blazer, (some have a stretchy shiney fabric that looks like a leather moto jacket, a midi skirt that doesn't care if it gets crushed, leggings, button down shirts, tees.

Never heard about the FOLEX. Will get me some. On occasions , I will find a vintage or new piece at a thrift store that is very reasonable but has a stain or two. If the garment is cheap enough, I am willing to buy it and see if I can save the garment. Usually, I use Max Force (oxiclean). It saved a brand new with tag Asos dress that had ugly water rust stains all over the skirt. The max force did the job. I have worn this dress for a couple of seasons and received many complements. I only paid $6 for the dress. Love these cleaning hack tips . You can never have enough cleaning tips. Thank you.

I am going away for the holiday with my sister. I am going to do faux snakeskin lace up boots. They go with everything. Black jeans and brown jeans. My sister has connections. Singapore, is the hottest place I have ever been to and I was FREEZING COLD whenever I was indoors! The air-conditioning was beyond freezing! I was never so cold in all my life and Singapore is right on the equator! And I am not even cold-sensitive! I was fine in Europe in winter! As well as safety pins, a small sewing kit is desirable when travelling. When you return to Paris, don't miss Sainte Chapelle. Thank you for the video. Have a fabulous week!

Thanks for the tips! I travel a lot, and you had some great advice. I’ve found there are actually some currencies you can’t even buy in the US (even in a major city, even with advance notice.). It hurts, but I’ll get even a small amount at an airport atm when I arrive. Instead of TSA pre check, you should apply for Global Entry if you travel internationally. It’s a step up from tsa precheck.

Thanks for the great tip! I was just looking up the TSAcheck and it said that right now it’s only for US citizens. I’m from Amsterdam, the Netherlands and travel back and forth to NY a lot because my boyfriend lives there :) Gonna look up this Global Entry now! :D Update: Global Entry isn’t available yet for non-US citizens, or at least not for citizens of The Netherlands. I just read all these news articles dating back to 2016 updated until October 2021 about the Global Entry availability for The Netherlands being postponed for years until this day. Seems like I’ll have to wait :(

I’m 5 2 and always have to get trousers taken up. Because it’s usually a lot of left over fabricI get the extra fabric made into pockets. Also the safety pin idea is a definite, look at what clothes you are packing and purchase a sewing kit. I had to buy a nappy pin in Italy from a guy who spoke no English. With my very limited Italian and charades moves we finally got there. It was a walking holiday and I lost a lot of weight and needed to keep my trousers up lol

I love Benetint lipstain, then I just add lip balm when needed. It’s a liquid with a brush, so maybe not great for travel. A heavily pigmented, matte lipstick, blotted, works ok, too.

100% on all these hacks. New clothing items I get and I already have a few combos in my head, I like to do a shop my closet and try on several complete outfits with it and take pictures. Including the matching shoes and bag and everything. This is great for those times you feel uninspired by your closet and can’t decide on what to wear. Or you don’t have much time to get ready. Just set up an outfit folder on your phone and scroll through it. You’ll get an idea guaranteed. Sometimes we simply forget about what we have🤷🏻‍♀️

The return flight into the US that she’s speaking of is called Global Entry. It’s different than Precheck. They also have mobile entry that can be used on return from international travel but it’s not at all airports

One great tip invest in silicone breathe cup to insert into your mask no lipstick stains on your mask as well as your make up will be in tact. Ha ha Tip 1 and I'm already yelling YES! I had heard all my life how cold it was in NYC in Winter so when I first visited it was end of November. I bought a classic black wool coat and packed lots of sweaters and thermals. When I applied for a Global Re-entry card 5 years ago the only way you could get back into the Us from an international destination and skip the customs line was with Global Re-entry, and not by TSA pre-check. I went to a Broadway play once on a hot July afternoon and it was unbelievably cold inside. I had only a light summer jacket on. It was so cold on all those hot, sweaty bodies that a thick fog developed in the theater. Everyone was complaining, but nothing was done to turn down the AC. Your tip works the opposite way, too. I’m too old now for mini skirts and dresses, which I loved in my younger days, but because I’m petite, if I size up they can end near my knee, which is fine. I still love showing off my great legs, but I won’t go shorter than 2-3” above the knee, and I wear tights and/or my thigh-high Weitzman’s with them. I just avoid any that look very short.

I carry a simple bread and cheese, sandwich when flying. If you don’t put mayonnaise, it can keep for 12 hours, it’s a lifesaver that can keep me going for a whole day, eaten in halves or quarters. A lot of times, only sugary, simple carbs are offered, I don’t want them, and, unlike those, the cheese has fat and protein to keep me going. If coming from home, I’ll bring sliced tomato in a separate baggie and add it before eating. For coming back, any deli or restaurant will make you one to go. A sliced apple in a baggy is great, too.
