While that is true, Badlands second album was just as awesome as this one, a lot of bands went the grunge way to make it easier to turn on them. My 20 year old dumb ass owned this album in 1989 and didn't have the sense to give it a chance, it quickly fell through the cracks as I was getting very into thrash bands like metallica and anthrax. Here I am in April of 2023 sitting at my desk in my home office with this album open on a tab as my background work music. In hindsight I can really appreciate that at the peak of bubblegum hair metal these guys had the balls and integrity to dig down deep into their roots and release a bluesy 70's infused masterpiece while most bands were selling their soul for a quick buck. Respect.

This album is without a doubt one of the best hard rock albums of all time. And it's definitely Jake E. Lee's best work. And it just goes without saying Ray was just a phenomenal singer. The vocal melodies on this album are just unbelievable. This band should have been WAY bigger. I've often thought hard about why they weren't bigger and I think it comes down to two reasons. One, the musical landscape back then was just jam packed with rock bands. This was when Guns N Roses and Metallica simply ruled the rock world and there was just simply so many bands and you also had the transition from 80s rock to grunge. And two, I think this is almost a more mature form of hard rock that not everyone can appreciate. This is not "Unskinny Bop" or "We're not Gonna Take It." It's almost like a painting you would see on Night Gallery. Almost morose at times. And I love the hell out of it. I have all three albums on my phone and I keep coming back to them and just marvel at how good Badlands was.

Front to back just a killer loaded hard rock album with dynamics, melody, nasty and tasty guitar work, stunning vocals and great SONGS. One of the best rock albums of the decade. Just push play at any point on this album and you’re good. And what a great goddamn name for a band on top of it all.

one crime begets another? it's a simple matter to record the audio stream of this upload. as is true of all music posted on youtube. copyrighted music really shouldn't be on youtube at all, just as copyrighted video is not. but since this record is here, and i cannot buy it, i'm recording it. from the beginning, or at least since payola, the music industry has had so many shady characters and grey morals, that it simply can't stand on principle on anything. what i'm most mystified by though is why the lawyers didn't suggest that the record remain in print and all proceeds go to victims' funds or something along those lines.
@javtimestwo Жыл бұрын
There are very legit reasons why the music is not available on streaming services. Just search the internet and you will read all about it. We all enjoy this music but at the same time we have to respect the victims, their families and the settlement that was litigated by all those parties involved.

One of the Most Underrated Band Ever to play and Tour the World. Jake E Lee a Master Guitarist-Producer and Song Writer founded this Band along with Ray Gillen a power house Vocalist. As well with world class drummer and Bass player - Eric Singer and Greg Chaisson. These Rocked the World and the end of a Great era of Rock and Blues and the End of the late 80s and earlier 90s. In a time when Music was real and the world was a happier place.!!! God Bless them All for giving us a Magical time Back in the Good old Days.!!!

This is one of my top 5 absolute favorite albums in the world. I wish I would have been at an age to have seen them in concert but at least I have the music and videos. Ray did indeed leave us far too soon, but he left us with some incredibly awesome, magical music to enjoy. I hope his spirit journeys well and happiness is ever within.

purrdeekittee got the chance to see badlands when their first album came out. It was at the palace in Hollywood, and got there not long after the doors opened. The band kept getting better as the night rolled along and Rays vocals were superb. Being in the presence of Ray's vocal's live was to say the least enlightening, and turned many a head with amazement as he wailed away. Would have loved to hear his voice grow old throughout time.

I was fortunate enough to have met and hung out with Ray in summer of 88 while staying in california. He was super excited about what the band had recorded, and with good reason. This album was stuck on repeat for most of 89 for me. Ray was super sweet, really down to earth. He is missed by many...what a voice!

He seemed nice in what few interviews I heard. I doubt he was the person people are making him out to be. But.He really needed to be more careful. I managed to live through that time.I was 21 and horny like anyone at that age was in '86.AIDS was terrifying both gay and straight folks. I mostly abstain because.Or was monogamous. And never went near anyone that had anything to do with needles.
