Which 35mm Should You Buy? | Viltrox 35mm f/1.8 VS Sony 35mm f/1.8 Lens Review

To me this is a no-brainer. The Sony is the easy choice. The focus noise alone would make this an easy pick. On a key focal length like this one, I'm willing to pay more to get better results.

With that said, right now the Sony is £419 while the Viltrox is £206, that's a big price difference. You can buy a 24mm and 35mm for the price of a single Sony 35mm.

@@SilatShooter Possibly, especially on something like the ZV-E1 which has a really fantastic built-in 3 capsule mic. I think I'm going to go for The Sony despite the price difference :)

Super nice lighting on your video, just to mention it! =) However, I prefer Tamron's 35mm f2.8. It's more versatile (14,x cm minimum focus distance), it has better IQ than both of these from left to right, and its shape gives you much better grip and handling. I shoot this lens on a 7R III and the image quality is million miles better than its price of only 180€ as I saw it lately. However, there is always a compromise and you have to know how to work around its AF sound. Focusing at first doesn't feel "fast" because you hear it clicking all the time when adjusting, but it isn't slow at all. It just isn't silent as long as you don't lock it into MF mode. Plus, its hood is a piece of genius. It doesn't add any length or form factor to your lens, you don't even notice it. :D

How is the loudness or Sound of the Autofocus? At the 50mm 1.8 they say its loud and Horrible and not meant for photography 🤠

Hi nice video, I have 3 viltrox lens for my Sony a7iv 35,50,85 they all keep freezing when taking pictures. Do you experience this problem only in photo in video work well.

Yep, it did that a few times. Should be an easy firmware fix. Are they all updated to the most recent firmware?

@@JorisHermans yes it is so sad. Just find another KZbin shooting Sony a7iv with viltrox 85 and his camera was freezing with him just like mine and he thought it's the SD card that are slow 😂 . I told him it's viltrox just save him some money on SD card 😜😂

I've said before, I'll say it again...and no doubt I'll be saying it again in the future (🙄🤣)...it's your honesty that I really appreciate - cheers as always Joris 🙏. Side-note: I'm from Dublin, Ireland and we too are experiencing this abnormal heatwave....but this is Ireland so, I kid you not when I say that about 20min ago, it went from REALLY SUNNY to almost complete darkness.....and it rained....a LOT 🙄🤣🤣🤣.
