OC: I'd definitely pick the 450SS as I prefer more sporty aggressive and technical riding, especially in the mountains. That said the 450SS and 450NK are serious shots fired at being the new King of Beginner bikes. At their price and for what you get they're hard to beat.

450cc is a beginner bike in America. In fact, the 1200cc Harley Sportster is a beginner bike in the US. The roads are higher speed, wider, straighter, and flatter than other countries. America has more straight highways than curvy roads.

Basically just KTM, the only upside though I might suspect would be that they are a up and coming business and so might work a bit harder to give value for a certain price point. I've heard some good and some bad, seems like you could get unlucky but I don't see why that wouldn't be able to be remedied especially since they come with what a 5yr manufacturer warranty? I'm torn between getting one of these two, or going for something a bit bigger since I'm coming from a 2015 GSX-R600, I want something that will make a cheap commuter bike but will still be a bit fun, my concern with these is not enough torque for passing. It's basically one of these or the newer triumph Speed triple.

@@sociopathmercenary Well in the street market I guess you could wait for more proof but at the highest level? CFMOTO is gonna win Moto3 and KTM takes greasy shits on the Japanese bikes in MotoGP. Then dollar/feature wise, the japanese release the same bike year over year and CFMOTO is actually putting premium features on their bikes. And you know you share your anti-chinese bias with Harley riders and American manufacturing is leagues worse than Chinese and somehow doesn't have nearly the stigma. In Cyprus where I live, people have been driving CFMOTO ATV's for almost a decade now.
