I've bagged Simon's music city open Proxy since he won that tournament and I absolutely love it. It has a very true to the release angle flight for me when I throw it hard but if I put less power behind it, it has a consistent overstable finish. I used to throw Envy, but the Proxy took over that slot for me. Loved the putter comparisons and enjoy the new chill vibes of the channel so far!

How would you compare the two molds?
@Wooxzy Жыл бұрын
The molds feel pretty similar in the hand. I used to throw the electron envys, but they beat in very quickly. Of course you can get higher quality plastics to prevent this from happening, but I presonally like the feel of the proxy in my hands more than envys. I'd say the envy feels slightly more deep in my hands than the proxy which is why I prefer the proxy myself. You really can't go wrong with either of them tbh, so I'd say give them both a feel test in the hand before buying one or the other because the feel is really what matters the most imo. @@sindrearnasjdahl9760

Berg is also really good for forehand approaches, while other slower putters can be quite finicky. The bulky rim makes it quite torque-resistent and wont turn over unless you completely hammer it. It does need some practice to get used to the grip though.
@NigramPecudem Жыл бұрын
I really like the idea of a series of videos focused on a specific bag slot and breaking down 1) the shots they are used for 2) what types of discs can fit it and 3) how different discs can slightly change the way you use that slot. Some options are control driver, overstable mid range, max distance driver, tunnel shot / gap hitters, utility disc, forehand disc, turnover disc.

That show exists, its called In The Bag. It's a really good show
@NigramPecudem Жыл бұрын
@@chrism4008 Great podcast, but not quite the same format - I think there is room for more of a field test focused on the slot and the shot. In the Bag generally focuses more on the actual discs themselves, helping people build bags, etc.

I’m a little surprised the Luna didn’t get a look on this video, cuz I see a lot of people use the Luna for throwing putters like Anthony Barela and Paul McBeth (obviously) I have been using Lunas for throwing putters and they would fit nicely in that p2 spot. Glidy, stable disc that is actually very durable. Doesn’t lose its stability as quickly. I like the look of the Aviar though and will definitely give it a try! Thanks for the break down! 🙌🏼

I love Maidens too but tournament plastic just slips out of my hand too often. I tried an experiment over a summer of field work and rounds with Maidens in Origio, BT Medium, BT Hard, Tournament and VIP and found that I consistently got the best distance and accuracy with BT Medium. This was a surprise - I expected the VIP or Tournament to have better distance but the BT Medium and even BT Hard were nearly always farther. I think it comes down to my grip. That's my hypothesis anyway.

Really liking the content, would like to add that another good disc for this list is Pure from Latitude 64, based on how you threw in the video, I’d say it has the distance potensial of the envy and the stability of the judge. I know you were setting a realistic limit on how many you could test, but two other common throwing putters worth mentioning: The Rhyno and the Pure. My personal favorite throwing putter right now is pretty new, and not well known yet, but I really like it: the MVP Watt. Fortunately just found your channel right as you are getting started. I am brand new to disc golf. Love the form you use to throw these putters. I have told myself that if I can't throw a putter the way I want to, why would I be able to throw a distance driver any better? I am working with an Aviar and soon an Invader. Other than midrange that is all I am going to use to try to get to the basket and work on my form and distance, hopefully manipulating the throw will come in between that. You were driving standing still though, which I don't do, but maybe I will try to make things more simple. Would love to see this video done for other putters or even midrange and fairway drivers. I subbed to catch the next one

The envy is nice but I prefer the proxy for this slot a bit more. It’s like an envy without the “bite” at the end. I think that makes it a bit more workable on more lines. It can hold a hyzer or anhyzer just as well. The envy is better for slight flex shots though. Cool vid man!

Too bad about the Double G Aviar. I’m a Seminole, but it’s hard not to like GG. I’ve collected a lot of discs, but with a max distance of 290’, putters don’t work for me off the tee. I do use them as approach discs from about 150’ in. I would say you do need a neutral flyer (I bag a Judge). It’s nice to have a point and shoot. I use an Envy, mostly for windy conditions. I use putters when I want it to land fairly late and not get a ton of ground play. Thanks for your video. It got me thinking and I’ll have to pull out the P2 and Berg to re-examine what they do.

Since I use putters and midranges for 90% of my shots I have 4 throwing putters. Mvp Spin great hyzerflip disc, flies sorta like a fuse with less glide and less speed. Envy as overstable putter. Glitch holds any line for short throws with tons of glide and it's quite stable and I also use it for short straight shots with no fade with fan grip. Berg shapes nicely too but with minimal glide which means less movement to the side at least on anhyzers. Amazing for forehands and short hyzers approaches and spike hyzers, it usually comes in slow and sticks the landing. (K1 soft)

Yo Trev, like what you've been doing with the channel. I think you are on to a good start! I have been trying to get Foundations take on some Yikun discs that I have really been loving but maybe itll be better on your channel. I'd suggest the Yikun GUI (Dragon plastic) and the Ling. The GUI is your typical driving putter that looks and feels great but the Ling is an awesome flippy putter that can get easy hyzer flip/turnover shots or some cool rollers. I do have a jawbreaker zone on the way hoping i could straiten it out but that will take some beat in time and the zone just doesnt quite fit my hand comfortably. I also need a shallow disc as i have smaller hands. I have tried many over stabke putters like the reko x and kotuku which both have the flight i want but are too deep and i get inconsistent releases Would the cash be a slightly more over stable version of an envy along with a glidy fade rather than dumpy fade? Also what plastic is your cash? I was considdering the alpha plastic for durability so it wont straiten out as soon and possibly have added over stability. I know, its kind of a goldie locks putter i am looking for! Its been a treasure hunt to find one that works.
