@Dreamlink915 жыл бұрын
@@davealmeida9786 So I had A4 B8 2008 Sedan with 2.0TDI Automatic Multitronic 6 speed gearbox. Car is super reliable and easy to service alone such as oil and filter change and brake discs and brakes themselves but the only issue is if you wanna change rear discs you need a mech because if you take them off your e break will lock. Other than that i had no problem. Never burned oil. I had the same oil for yearly service to the next service. City drive is around 5 or 6 liters but crusing on highway for few hours and it wont go over 4 liters per 100km. I had it with 240 000km and on Audis 2.0tdi you have to swap belt once you go 190 000kms so thats pretty good. Seats are perfect for long ride but get Proline not S line. If you are not able to afford it you can go with Passat instead, you could say it is a cheaper version of audi. Just a little worse paintjob and interior is not that great but the seats are comfy.. and the downgrade from Passat would be Skoda Octavia, same thing but cheaper matherials.

You started talking about the 2.0 TFSI engine, but keep in mind, that there is A LOT of different variants of this engine, the oil consumption problem is only relevant on the EA-113 engine, which is used in the Audi A4, A5 and Q5. The rest of the 2.0 TFSI engines are used in models such as the A6, which uses an BPJ engine, which is pretty much a bullet proof engine, it can have a timing chain problem, but nothing pricey. Just wanted to clarify, so people don't get afraid of buying a 2.0 TFSi engine from VW/AUDI. If you're looking at an Audi A4, A5 or Q5 from 2004-2012, my advice would be, stay away, and get an A6 or similar, if you absolutely want the TFSi engine.

Thanks for the vid! Curious about the list that you posted @3:29 - how did you come up with the list, and should we truly avoid variants that aren't on the list? Also, looking a bit further, some of the info you mention seem to conflict with your recommended list. For instance, you mention the 3.2 FSI as one of the most reliable petrol engines @1:26. You then get into transmissions and mention @2:42 that the multitronic CVT has some issues, with the Tiptronic autos being far superior. Yet, in your recommendations for bulletproof Audis you list for the A4 the 2.0 TDI which only comes with CVT, yet leave out the A4 3.2 FSI Quattro with Tiptronic? Just curious as to why this was so. Thanks!

An Audi mechanic told me that the oil problems of the 2.0 TFSI are because the castrol oils(the manufacturer's recomend) become water after a few hundred km and the rings around the pistons wear off ,so the oil goes in the combution chamber.An Audi mechanic told me that. I read also that many BMW that have used castrol oil have had the same problems.
@Oueax6 жыл бұрын
Yes because 90% of people think that Castrol is the God of engine oils so they use that all the time. And they are complaining about it's overpricing. Personally, I dislike castrol just because of its hype. And it has way better alternatives for a more reasonable price. Just use a good brand of motor oil like Mobil, Eneos, Eni, Total etc. Just check the performance levels and manufacturer approval. Those are the only thing to look for. I own an Audi A4 1.6 (B5) and I run it with Mobil 10W40. Because the VW standard covers 5W40, 5W30, 10W40 etc SAE markings, you have the freedom of choice. My car is an early model from 1999, it as 266k kms, eats 1-2 deciliters of oil every 700km or so. But hey, every VW enginde does that. I changed from 5W40 to 10W40 because the 5W lasted only 5000km-s. Little 1.6 ate it.

If you want more from a car get a BMW (but not the new x1 or other FWD platform), Jaguar or a Mercedes in the same price range. They are not necessarily faster or more capable but a good balance is always a plus. Audi's are not bad at all but they screwed the weight distribution. Also specialists are not impressed by the steering feedback. But other than that they are fine. I'm not particularly a BMW fan although I own two. I appreciate other models as well like the audi A5 3.0 or S with the sport differential and torque vectoring that also looks very well, or decent sports cars honda s2000, mazda mx5, ginetta g40, lotus elise, westfield. As for SUVs there is the jag F pace and AR stelvio that do more than just being premium SUVs. Also the P. Macan is good but that's getting expensive and probably expensive maintenance.
@volvopentaman5 жыл бұрын
I always advice people to NOT buy BMWs especially with over 200.000km (I'm a mechanic and repair those craps). They are notorious for having many expensive issues, like all models. 4cyl models stretch and break chains, 6cyl models are best, but have both chain, VANOS, valvetronic and oil consumption issues on some 2000's models. V8 are just too expensive to maintain if you take it to a garage, not to talk about V10 or V12 models. And I wouldn't call them better handling in any way.

In the market for an Audi. Used between 2015-2017. What are the most reliable options? Also speed is a plus with tune capability
@michaelmcgrath28144 жыл бұрын
Audi S3 or s4, for between 24 and 28k you can get a s3 or s4 with fairly low miles and possibly CPO. Tunable and parts are hugley common, especially the A3 and S3 since they are on the same platform as the VW Golf/GTI/GOLF R

What are your opinions about the TFSI engines starting with 2013? I've heard that oil consumptions problems were pretty much fixed.
@panogang56604 жыл бұрын
I do not know if this is still needed for you, but dont confuse the A4, A5 and Q5 2.0 TFSI engines with the A6 TFSI engine, the engine with the oil consumption problem is called EA-113, and is used in the A4, A5 and Q5, the A6 TFSI engine is a BPJ engine, which do not have the problem - anyways, the problem should have been fixed after 2012, so if you're looking at an A4, A5 or Q5, the oil consumption problem shouldn't be there, but keep in mind, you can always be unlucky.

@speedlabs44 жыл бұрын
SQ5 are bulletproof. Engine is overbuilt and the 8 speed Zf is quick. X4 are BMW and depending witch engine you choose you can have some oil issues and the famous gasket problems all BMW have ( their gaskets are cheap and tend to fail quicker than other brands) hope that helps

The 2.5TDI inline 5 is as solid as it gets, the same as older 1.9TDI but with an extra cylinder pretty much. The pump is reversed tho and it has the pump drive at the back of the camshaft.

@volvopentaman5 жыл бұрын
Yes, I wonder why this was not mentioned, as it has no known serious issues even at high mileage, no oil consumption or chain issues, but the 6,3W12 that is much rarer is mentioned. I'm on my second A8L W12, both fantastic cars and engines. And as said, most V6/V8 FSI engines have chain issues more or less. Some even as low as under 100.000km. Many A8/Q7 on the market with replaced 3,0/4,2TDI engines around 200.000km, often due to chain issues, especially 2011-> the 3,0TDI is known for leaking coolant and chain problems.

Listen!.....Americans are lazy! Plain and simple, especially when it comes to automotive maintenance. European cars were not built with us in mind, we don't want to do "nothin" for maintenance, then we cry like babies and bad-mouth when they breakdown! Japanese cars are specifically made for Americans. They know we are just some lazy asses!

Maybe if you live in America, your models are not built by germans. Maintenance is cheap and they have better build quality here in Europe.

Great car. Just use a preventative strategy for GDI inlet port coking. This approach is working fine: halved the nominal engine oil change intervals, use 100% PAO based engine oil and employ CRC GDI inlet cleaner before oil change.
