This song is about a girl in college that he had a crush on. She avoided him and when he finally got close to her in a cafeteria or a record shop, I can’t remember which, but she literally ran away from him. This is what he felt. He never fit in there and eventually dropped out if my memory serves me correctly. She later attended one of their concerts.

Thom Yorke, the lead singer wrote this song after falling head over heels for a girl. He said she looked like an angel. He never approched her or told her how he felt because of his very low self-esteem. He was picked on and called names all the time bc of a condition he was born with.
