For us small farmers especially, and all farmers as far as that is concerned, not getting beat to death by the high cost of equipment in some way is vital. As you explained very well, with the trade in and getting a good price for the new baler, you have done the best a person can do. Having parts and a good dealer close is also so extremely important. Well done! Nick, North West Farmer (Oregon)

Im glad you never went with a case/ new holland baler. The last 2 new holland balers (br780, br7090) are junk after about 15000 bales. Our john deere 569 is great but dont like the net wrap but we also got a vermeer 605N and the net wrap system is second to none the best. The monitor is crazy good. Built like a freight train and will be no more new hollands and will be many more john deere and vermeer balers.

Just a couple of things you might try, I always turn the drawbar over to gain clearance for the windrow and keep the pin from dragging material. I also made a bellypan for the tractor from a sheet of plastic. My last suggestion goes back to your baling video is to concentrate on filling the sides of the bales,run one side and then move to the other side if you just weave back and forth you may have a tendency to overfill the center of the bales that will give them a slight football shape. Beyond that I think you made a good choice having multiple dealers available to get parts is awesome.

Many John Deere Fans and contractors in germany buy a kuhn baler .because the round bale net turns in front of the machine and you could control the function of the winding process . They a great baler. I liked the Deere for the net but that's it. No soft core kit, no drop floor and they still back in the 8 series when every one else is with the times. But the Deere price is always up there. I would have liked a McHale but they low balled me on a trade 10k less than anybody else. Lot's of used 460's here been traded on Kuhn or McHale. I ended up with a CIH 455 and have 4000 on it had a few sensor issues but been good and it will eat the hay. Cheers

How do you set ur bale size and wraps? How do you respool the wrap?
@mikep781010 ай бұрын
On the main screen of the monitor in the upper left hand corner you will see your bale size. You can tough the monitor and it will bring up numbers so you can adjust to make 4x4 up to a 4x5. Not sure if the 3185 goes larger then 4x5 or not. Next to that you will see a number of how many wraps of the net. You can touch that and adjust it to any number you want. Respooling the wrap is done in the front of the baler and there should be a picture to show you the direction. I'm shocked the dealer didn't go over it with you. Mine went over everything and told me if I needed anything to call him and he'll come back and show me

Sounds like manufacturers need to make better products, because it seems that farm equipment is always bought because of the availability of service and parts rather than personal choice or performance. Far too many breakdowns, combine and baler fires, etc. Do they all use crappy metal or design with bad tolerances, or what?
