Great choice for comparison, Emily, Thanks! You give me lots to consider. I haven't tried the SC Elite yet, but would definitely consider buying it, and I do own the Endorphin Pro 3. In fact, I ran a marathon PB in it last year. So, I know its capable of going the full marathon distance and is a fabulous shoe! But, it isn't the most cushiony shoe ever, more of a firm shoe with excellent responsiveness, which is pretty much what you said. Lol

I’ve been running in the Endorphin 3. It took some time to get used to it (my only other super shoe experience was with Nike). But I’m loving them now 🙂

The Endo Pro3 is the first CP shoe that’s worked well for me. I found it comfortable out of the box, though my friends at the running store convinced me to go up 1/2 size since I bought them for marathons, and my larger volume/length (R) foot was borderline with the length. The lockdown is great and I didn’t have a single issue wearing them in the very rainy Boston Marathon-including traction near the slimy aid stations. They didn’t hold on to the water even though I couldn’t avoid puddles, and I never had a hint of a hotspot even with wet feet and socks in the race. I had only put on about 15 test miles and none in rain. The Pro3’s feel like extensions of my feet and “disappeared” during the race, which is what I want in a shoe. 18 m. course PR but better training and fueling probably played a larger role than the shoes😂

I'm in NH and we had a respite from the smoke for a few days being just outside the smoke zone by about 50 miles. We're back in the smoke zone this morning. My options are the treadmill at a nearby gym or an indoor track with HEPA filtering but a longer drive. I also use tape if I have a rubbing or other problem with a shoe.

This video is what's been of my mind for a while! The RC Elite V2 are probably my favorite racing shoes, they are so comfortable but also fast. So the SC Elite V3 was the next shoe I wanted to try, I finally ordered them since they came down to $80 in Sierra and $140 at RW. But I have loved training in the Endorphin Speed 3, so I have wanted to test the Pros for a while, can't wait for them to go on sale at some point. Still in the hunt for the racing shoes for my first full marathon, for now it might be the SC elite 3.

Great rundown/comparison! I ran the EP 3 in a marathon back in June (no smoke, thank goodness!) and I’m in love. Pretty much all the things you’ve mentioned here…legs felt great the next day, so recovery went well. For the SC Elite, I went for a tempo run a couple weeks ago (first and only run in them so far) but rolled an ankle! It was wet surface, so maybe my fault but I just never roll ankles. Point is, it’s VERY plush -as you mentioned. Anyway, I have another marathon in Oct and I’m still debating which to run in. Thanks for doing this video!

ive taken sc elite 3 for 36km run. legs felt great after. i use them for marathon specific long runs and ultimately get a fresh pair for a key race

I agree with your ultimate conclusion. I have both shoes, but rarely wear the Endorphin Pro3 because, in my opinion, they are just too firm and not that comfortable for long mileage (marathon training or racing). I had some of the same issue with the collar on the SC Elite rubbing my ankle bone, but luckily, I put in different inserts in my shoes that are raised just enough so that I don't get the rubbing any more. I actually prefer the SC Elite upper too. Something about the tongue on the Pro bothers me. I will wear the Pro for shorter races and speedwork on the track. BTW, I love the yellow colorway!

We've been hammered between the smoke and the rain. I've had a knee injury for the past 3 weeks so spinning indoors and just starting short runs. The gym is closed today and it's a rainy day so spin bike again.

Been running in both of these this week, desperately trying to find a marathon shoe. For me, the NB midsole is softer, bouncier, comfortable, more fun. The Saucony is firmer, stiffer, but more stable, less bouncy, with an upper which is more secure, more breathable, and maybe a tiny bit wider. The low drop on the NB left me achilles and calf discomfort. Wish they'd given it a higher drop. My ideal would be a combination of both. But I'm gonna stick with the Saucony.

In my late 50s and want comfort but still want some pep. Have the elite 2 and it is soft but just not as responsive. Ran a marathon in the pro 3 and it was amazing. I just got the adios 3 and cannot wait to try it since it is also soft but has some pick me up. Thanks again for your video

I have the Endorphin Pro 3 and love them. First run yesterday in my New Balance SC elite V3 in 🍌🍌🍌. Shoe is super comfortable for my wide feet. Extremely comfortable for fast but also slow speed. Did Stryd Fartlek workout and was amazing throughout. But... It does not have the propulsive nature of the Vaporfly V2 or Adidas Pro 3. It's more comfortable and tuned down. Excellent shoe. But if I had to choose one between the two the more race ready is the Endorphin Pro 3.

I race in the Endorphin Pro 3.. I like it .. I did try the NB Elite V3, I didn’t like the lockdown.. I felt like I was sliding around a bit too much ..

I get a little bottoming out on the SC Elite (I think on the exposed plate with grip section) - on a Marathon it actually did hurt a little (for up to 18 miles it was fine) - although I still did PB I will probably choose an alternative. The Pro 3 I’ve loved, no major issues but I did get a hot spot on my little toe on the last half marathon which has never happened previously and I’d run full marathon too.

Both are awesome but both have drawbacks for me. I. get some lace bite across the top of my foot in the endorphin pro 3. I wish the tongue were a bit longer and more padded. I also get the same rubbing you mentioned in the NB SC Elite v3.

Endorphin Speed 3 for everything and racing the Endorphin Pro 3.. I am 60 and slow runner... Running about 80k per week.

Just a note that Fuelcell is not PEBA based, it is a supercritical EVA, unlike Pwrrun PB which is PEBA based, and Pwrrun HG in the Endo Elite being supercritical PEBA. The difference being I’ve found Fuelcell to be softer, but not as long lasting, and sensitive to cold temps. Thanks for the comparison!!

This is still wrong. Fuelcell is not EVA, it used to be a TPU/EVA blend in the past (in models like TC or RC E1), and since then it's now TPU-based.

Emily, nice review. Interesting verdict. I think that SC V3 is more friendly to a new runner, or is aiming to move to the middle pack (more casual runner?), while PRO 3 is for a runner who is already at the middle pack and tries to move forward. Does this make any sense?

I'm finding Saucony shoes to be too tapered/pointy these days... I get too much of that pinky pressure and some pretty gnarly toenails when running long in them! Can't size up as the plate doesn't work for me then.

I have both and have raced in both..for me they are very different..the saucony doesn't work for me..every saucony just doesn't fit right..the issue with the pinky toe is the same in all sauconys..I think the curve of the last has my feet want to push against the little toe area..the OG hoka rocket x was exactly the same..the NB is the most comfortable shoe I own..I always want a knit upper with no tongue..the only issue is the forefoot cushioning is not quite just right and as a forefoot runner it goes flat at 10k..the SC trainer doesn't.. so for me the elite V3 is very close but not just right..the only shoe that holds up for me is the alphafly V2 ..but the NB is just so comfortable just tweak that forefoot cushioning..

J'ai uniquement les Saucony endorphin pro 3 pour faire de la vitesse uniquement et pas plus d'une heure (je gagne 5' sur mes autres chaussures). Je les trouve exigeantes et plutot raides, sans parler du fit étroit (j'ai des pieds larges). Certains lui reproche le manque de maintien au talon, et je confirme, bien qu'il y a pire : Puma Deviate Nitro. Je voudrais changer pour une paire plus confortable et plus adhérente sur sol mouillé, je serais bien tentée par les New Balance

Hi Heller! I ran an half marathons in the Pro 3 last month. I find that the Pro 3 a bit too firm for my foot strikes and can't really feel much propulsion from the plate. I am running rather slow for my half marathon, at Avg 7min/k pace. I am more of a forefoot striker and midfoot when tired. Is SC elite v3 softer in the forefoot? Which is more suitable for slower runner like me to get the benefits from these super shoes?

Shoetubers rarely include or even mention previous iterations into consideration which is sometimes not very practical. But if comfort is the matter, I assume that there's a good reason to stick with RC Elite v2 which decidedly tops both of these models.

If there’s something to be said about the previous version I always try to mention it. Honestly I didn’t really get along too well with the RC elite v2. So I don’t really count it here

I haven't tried the SC Elite v3 but do have the Pro 3. The Pro 3s are great but theres something off about the fit as I had to go half size up in the Speeds and Pros and my big toe gets a bit numb on longer runs which I don't in any other super shoe (AF1, VF2, Wave Rebellion Pro).
