Ah, the HW35 a classic… it was a classic when I first heard of it when I was 16 years old… I’m now 63 yo 😱… that’s an enduring design… That said I bought an HW99s earlier this year and that is also a fine bit of kit 👍

I prefer the 35, especially for hunting and i love the old stock with the rims. Weihrauch calls the HW80 their workhose and the only difference is the latch, witch i prefer and the little bit shorter compression tube. The 35 is in my opinion "more" gun. Mine is in .22 and from the eighties and a brand new 35E with walnut stock i will ad to my collection. I see rather the walnut stock than the 125 year red laminate edition, but that's a question if taste and not discussable...Thanks for a great video buddy👍 Cheers!

Having owned both, it's the 99S for me all day long. The 35 feels like holding a plank, with too much weight into the shoulder, and I'm not a fan of having to pull the breech lever before and after cocking the gun. The 99S, on the other hand, feels just right to me.

Thinking on this suspect having all three 35 , 50 and 99 reminds me of my pre marital days close your eyes as you pull the trigger its hard to tell the difference, I always appreciated older girl friends on that basis alone get the 35 ! 😊

That CS700 is lovely! I had one the same spec on an AA S400 and wish I’d kept it instead of chopping it in for a HW100. A 99S with a CS stock is on my wish list😊

Excellent thumbnail sketch, particularly of the firing cycle. The 35 sits better on aim and is steadier to ‘wield’. I would add that the 35 can also make an excellent budget 10m, 6 yard or bell-target rifle. Fitted with a reduced power spring and a diopter it’s weight gives a very gentle recoil. A tbt piston extension could be used to short-stroke such a ‘Match’ 35 and make it even better. Swapping the spring out is easier than the 99 as well. Although they are within £30-60 of each other they’re very different rifles. It takes a certain amount of discernment to appreciate the 35, rather than dismiss it for being an ‘old’ ugly design. Not everyone gets there but just considering it is laudable. And yes, the screw-in back block is nice engineering, the little square ‘Tooty Fruity’ tiles just stink of the bean-counter’s demands.

A Very Big Thank You for this very well presented and informative video. I’m so glad you have made this video after my message on the 99/50s. You’ve cost me a small fortune. A good friend of mine has bought the HW50 Special Edition in .22 and I’ve bought the same. I’ve also ordered the HW35e in stainless. I will when ready send them both in for you to do your magic. Keep up the great work. 👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🇬🇧

Hi Nick, I just wanted to say thank you for all these new videos. I'm thoroughly enjoying watching them and love your sense of humour. Any chance you can tell me how the 35k would compare to the 95k in sub 12 please? Keep up the great work 👍

I've just bought a 2nd hand HW 35, I think it's around 27 years old, makes 10.7 ft/lbs and shoots beautifully but on stripping it down to clean I found it to be a bit of a mess inside and the spring wasn't straight so I've ordered a Tinbum Maxi tuning kit for it. I just hope it doesn't increase the power and recoil too much as Nick has just mentioned in the video that these rifles shoot better at the lower power .

The HW35 “How to” videos are made and will come out over the next three evenings. They will help, but failing that please ring me with any questions👍

Well done Nick, you just rebuilt your bridges with the HW35 owners among us, that can’t have been easy! Ps. Surprised with your injured shoulder you aren’t commenting about the smoothness and cocking weight energy differences on the various rifles (especially interesting whether it changes any if TbT kits are fitted).

Just chopped in my tx 200 hc for a 99s had enough of the weight and loading faff hope the 99 match’s accuracy out to 35 yards.that tx tinbumed was a tack driver on the range I hope it loves its new owner .😢
@davew936023 күн бұрын
I had the TX200 it was superb quality and bench rest shooting I could hit almost anything I wanted , take it out in the field ,it was awful I could not hit anything . I traded up to a HW 95 IN .177 and then bought a HW 99 in .22 as well and the results are first class ,both easy to use anywhere and on target .

I replaced a 99 with a 35 and I'm very glad i did ,it was about 7/8yrs old so came with the traditional style stock which I prefer in .22 maybe it's nostalgia but I love it 👍
@davidoldboy542523 күн бұрын
Got both, currently the difference in most of the UK is around £60, but for that £60 you get a far better gun with the 35, but just my thoughts, not much in it.

I really prefer the size and weight of the HW35. Of my seven HW rifles three of them are 35's of different configuration. I do have the 50S/99 and it's okay but lacks a certain charm. I never noticed outdoors but when shooting indoors the 50S/99 also seems to be a little louder. As I've gotten older I've actually been mounting diopter sights on more of my rifles... I don't want to have to scope all of them! :)

The 99 is miles better, the 35 is better for body building.

Strange to hear a HW35 described as an entry level rifle when back in the late 70's/early 80's it was pretty much THE air rifle of choice for the serious shooter (if you had the money and could lift the darn thing, I was young and weedy then!).
@tbtairrifletuning152021 күн бұрын
It’s more as that and the 50/99 are the cheapest full power springers they make👍

I read somewhere that it was designed in 1935 but was not put into production because the German war machine was gearing up this is a easy choice if you are a young man go 35 if well in your 60s and walk a lot of miles roost shooting like I do go 99 there both quality

Don't think you can go wrong with any of the weihrauch springers... even the much overlooked HW 90 is a marvelous thing.

A good pair to compare on performance....both mine in there standard stocks only have one difference as mentioned, and that's there weights, my 35 in the new checkered stock is a real hefty lump where as my 50s is only marginally heavier than my 30s. Versatility has to be with the 99/50......my opinion only😱😢

Gee thanks Nick, I just purchased an HW50S to go with my HW30S, now you're telling me I need to buy an HW35K. 😂

A question from the US. When I put my TBT maxi kit in what ft lbs should I expect. I’m currently getting about 9.5 with my FTT 8.64 grains. Per your recommendations, I’m OK with 10.5 ft lbs for accuracy. Any recommendations for what to do - put the spring in first or cut it how much first? 🤔 Thanks.

That would depend on which gun it is? The HW35 strip and tune videos start tonight👍

Be brave and tell us about a cheaper brand that is under the radar and maybe not made in Germany, that might be tuneable
