Hey everyone! Just an update for the Lark 150... The High Pass Filter option has been removed from the menu to help with better sounding audio!
@scb2scb24 жыл бұрын
I assume its a setting or did they release a software update already ? the menu has 3 settings for all mics. I do have to say that the menu is not in the manual for a reason :)
@dan697774 жыл бұрын
Excuse me, but what does this update mean? How will it help with better sound?
@scb2scb24 жыл бұрын
@@dan69777 2 things the options in the hidden menu where well not for general use. The second thing is that all boxes can be updated thats rather cool and the first updates includes a improvement is sound they say. I do feel we will see more updates along the way...

Listening with headphones the Hollyland definitely had a louder noise floor and comes in a little hotter on the signal. I personally would go with Saramonic on sound quality as I prefer a flatter and not as bassy sound, because if I need it warmer or more bassy I can quickly EQ it in post. Aesthetically yeah I give it to the Lark but I don't think any client or any non-filmmaker will really care, aesthetics don't tell a story or make a video... They're both bulky cases, in my opinion, ones not really that much better. Also, branding doesn't matter because one is a Chinese audio brand and the other specializes in wireless VIDEO. From what I read from professionals and prosumers on forums and Facebook is that the battery life is really the deal-breaker for them and being able to recharge them while filming is super important. I think the lark is perfect for most youtube creators or social media, however, if I'm filming an event, documentary, wedding, even a narrative film, id rather place the mic on the talent and have that peace of mind that id never have to worry about my mics dying. You could miss a take or a super key moment, and having to re-mic your talent is a hassle, especially women or a bride...
@lawes883 жыл бұрын
But the audio over all was louder with the lark, so if you where to raise the volume to the same level it would have the same noise floor... The rage however was worse on the lark :/

Your video is the only one I can find that directly compares these two systems. I’m surprised that no one else has done this because these systems have less in common with the oft-cited Rode Wireless Go than they do with each other. Kudos for that. Personally, I think they are both great systems. The Hollyland is probably a better buy for general creators who want a solid, reliable, and compact system, but considering I’ve done everything from weddings to livestreams to studio and film work, the Saramonic system is a slightly more versatile kit. It sacrifices a bit on aesthetics, build quality, and latency, but these are acceptable in essentially every scenario. The latency is low enough to be a non issue and can be corrected for if you know what you are doing. Additionally, the battery life and individual charging capability of each unit is far better for documentary work if you happen to have a single person mic’d for several hours.

Both of these systems are around the same price point, and they both give you 2 transmitters, a receiver and a charger. This is the perfect head-to-head video and exactly what I was looking for.. Thank you for another great review!

Great comparison! I was a little surprised that I didn't hear a ton of difference in quality between these 2 systems. I should have my Lark 150 within the next few days and look forward to checking it out myself. Thanks for the video!

Hey i really love that you made this comparison video and how you made it. But i think you should express more of Your thoughts on the comparison as i believe most of us audience who look into these kind of comparison might not be a pro in detecting the differences, thus i think You should review the differences based on your thought. Nevertheless great content and video 💪🏼👍🏼

As a filmmaker, I'm not always into the looks..I'd like a gear that would help me in my run ang gun style without worrying that I would ran out of juice while on the go..For me, this time the Saramonic wins. But I'm hoping that Hollyland will release a newer version with longer battery life. Anyway, this is a very good comparison video.

You seem to leaning towards Hollyland Lark 150 as a better wireless mic but watching your review on both mics, I think Saramonic Blink 500 Pro wins it overall... with the range test, sound quality test and also the battery life test. The only drawback I think is the 12ms delay in Saramonic mic. Also, Saramonic Blink 500 Pro is more versatile since you can charge it separately via the micro usb input jack. Thanks for this review since I'm considering this two as my next mic to buy. More power!

Built-in batteries define the longevity of the primary product. Will these batteries last long enough to justify buying the unit? I would hope for at least 4 years of battery longevity would be a reasonable expectation? Any comments on this?

Can you tell Hollyland to make the transmitter battery last longer and add a usb-c port to the receiver? Then it would be the perfect system!

Since you're the one doing the actual testing, it would be nice if you summarize your conclusions, instead of saying "what do you think, post it in the comments."

Good overview of both systems. Just wondering why you also didn't look at the Tentacle Sync E as well?
@frankgenus37813 жыл бұрын
Pretty sure the Tentacle Sync TRACK-E is a digital recorder as opposed to a wireless microphone system.

If I got 2 of these kits and a splitter cable, could I record 4 microphones at once? Would there be any significant drawbacks? (I suppose I would only be able to control the audio for each system instead of for each of the 4 mics?).

in the Hollyland Lark 150 , can I separe the transmitter audio in the stereo file? For example, the TX-A send Audio to right channel only and the TX-B send the audio to left channel only of the stereo audio recorded. thanks
@YourKarateNews3 жыл бұрын
I do that (with another brand) and a zoom h5 recorder, I use a splitter cable, which I connect to the line out of the receiver and it splits the 2 channels to 2 xlr so I insert those 2 xlr cables into the zoom h5 and later I can do whatever I want in post with the 2 channels independently.

That latency test at 7:32s doesn't sound accurate. That's not a 12ms delay.

To the non musical or highly trained ear, both mics sound the same. Love de Lark 150´s warm tone, noise reduction and overall looks. Peace!
@nephiilim3 жыл бұрын
How do you know that? I'm guessing you're trained right? How do you know what these sound like to everyone that's not trained?this product just came out which means it's impossible for you to have the experience of hearing these with an untrained ear. So how would you know?
@urielfdz3 жыл бұрын
@@nephiilim Hi! Well, I´m a musician and film maker myself. I had some ear training back in music production school. This video contains both mics samples and one sounds a little deeper than the others which means it has more low end. I´m used to listen to this range of frequencies because I play bass guitar and drums. Low end is very hard to notice. Also, I use pro over ear headphones to watch this type of videos which has more low end response. That is how I noticed right away.

And Saramonic Blink 500 (NO PRO)? Same audio quality of Blink 500 PRO but 100$ in less, less smart , more practical.. what do you think about it?
@rmkmedia61534 жыл бұрын
Both mics are good depending on usage. Saramonic has better options than holy land lark 150. Saramonic can run for 8 hrs, can be charged independently etc. Built quality lark 150 wins. At the end saramonic wins.

I loved this vido, I was looking for something comparing this 2 systems. I really appreciate it. But you said something weird, that the hollyland lav mic is a "super cardioid" polar pattern, and as far as I know there is no lav mic with that kind of polar pattern, it would be useless. So I checked out at their website and I confirmed that is a omnidirectional polar pattern, also the blink 500 pro But this small mistake apart, I really loved your video, it helped me with a lot of doubts and helped me orient my next purchase. Thank you very much!
@danplews3 жыл бұрын
Thanks for clarifying about the supercardioid comment at about 5:30s - I was going to post that the 'standard lavalier capsule' is an omni, picking up everything.
