I personally think the most lethal “special zombie” bar none HAS to be ANY of the playable character zombies from the PVZ: Garden Warfare series. You have foot soldier zombies that propel themselves to buildings and destroy defenders with rockets, engineers that can ride jackhammers and build teleporters, scientists that can war to and from cover and heal themselves and other zombies, and the All-Star who can tackle you and kick explosive imps at your face. And this is all without mentioning the fact that they have GUNS, which range in projectiles from paintball pellets, to footballs, to goop, to straight up freshly-made clumps of CONCRETE. I feel like you didn’t do the Gargantuar justice. In PvZ GW2 they are capable of sprinting very fast short bursts to get into melee range with their target, also they are able to somehow get up on rooftops as you first fight them in PvZ on the roof levels. I would also like to point out that they can survive from an attack that would completely flatten or turn other zombies into ash, including the doomshroom which is basically a mini nuke.

Origins panzer either: Beats you like an abusive partner, grapples you from afar to melt you alive as it stares into your soul, or just becomes a walking BBq. All being pretty effective. D.E..Panzer is a whole other beast, it's flamethrower and shock launcher can buff the other zombies making them even more problematic as it blitzes towards your location. there is also the possibility that the panzers could maybe use their jetpacks to dash forwards. tho that isn't shown. If they could do that, they'd be nightmares to face, easily putting them on high for combat AND Infectivity

Road of the dead 2 mutants can just stone face 30+ .308 rounds to the face, outrun your Humvee, can survive MISSILES, Surviving attack chopper guns (usually a 20mm autocannon) they grow an ultra thick armored skin/muscle around themselves and have bulletproof skulls that you have to DRILL INTO with bullets to kill them, it's confirmed that a hand few mutants survive the nuke at the end of the game. and they don't give 2 shits about the sun or any type of light, roam in PACKS and can evolve to do all the stated things, better. good luck.

I love Project Zomboid, but the Knox Infection is a pretty simple infection to break down. You get the infection if you're either bitten or one of the unlucky 80% who aren't immune to the airborne strain. When you catch the infection you die of a fever after 3 days and get reanimated. It started in Kentucky, but a few locations overseas also had an outbreak (most likely due to Fort Knox and Fort Campbell soldiers being deployed to those areas).

Not trying to be "that guy", just want to offer extra info for a fellow zombie aficionado, but the Headcrab Zombie variants like the Fast Zombie and Poison Zombie aren't mutations. They're just different species of Headcrabs affecting their host differently. If you get got by a Fast Headcrab, you will always become a Fast Zombie. If it's a regular Headcrab, you will only become a regular Headcrab Zombie, with no further progression (outside of the Gonome). They don't change between forms, it's just based on which species of Headcrab gets you. Again, not trying to be sarcastic or rude! It's just that that part jumped out to me and I got momentarily confused and wanted to verify, on the off chance you might appreciate it!

I was under the impression they were just relatives/sub-species of the regular ol' noggin-muncher native to Xen (or elsewhere) and brought by the Combine, not that they had mutated under the conditions of Earth's ecosystem. I could be mistaken on that, though. However, that would still make the HEADCRABS the mutating agents, not the zombies themselves, as one type of zombie cannot mutate to another type. Once a headcrab is removed from its host, the host dies, which means that even aside from the concept of the severe physical changes being mutually incompatible (a fast zombie wouldn't have the body mass remaining necessary to become a normal or poison zombie) there's still no way that a zombie itself can mutate because as soon as the original headcrab is removed the subject would immediately expire before another could be applied, even if the original headcrab was still alive. You couldn't even stick the first headcrab back on to reanimate it, let alone a different headcrab species, as far as I understand the concept.

I feel the volatile should get #1 in this list. They are much more common than the Rat King from TLOU, hunting in large numbers at night so running into them is a greater risk. This also means dark zones during the day are festering with them. Fighting volatiles in close quarters is a death sentence because they can use their sheer numbers to overwhelm and overpower you as opposed to the Rat Kings ability to break off a few of its conglomerates. Your best bet to survive an encounter with a volatile is to run to the nearest source of UV light, but at night that may be a very difficult task, especially if you haven’t trained your agility and cardio

Simple, the tone of the games gives the zombies something equivalent to a lesser toonforce then combine that with absurd specials made with super-weapon plant soldiers in mind such as the Gargantuar or the disco zombie and top that all of eith the simple fact that they're actually a species independent of humans and thus don't have the typical stupidity of zombies (not to say they aren't stupid but there are far more instances of intelligent zombies then a lot of other depictions of zombies can say) and aren't as slow as most zombies even being able to use tools like zomboni's bungee cords and improvised vehicles (see the basketball zombie for am example) to increase their speed further, and lastly they have a genius leader

The Volatiles run 15 MPH in the base game, but are able to run up to 70 MPH in "the following" DLC to keep up with your buggy for balancing purposes. I'd say their canonical speed would be 15 MPH.

COD zombie zombies take number 1 for me. Not only are they being controlled by a leader inside a pyramid on the moon. But element 115 can allow them to constantly cycle between life and death, and each time you kill the zombies they grow stronger all the while you suffer the effects of 115 exposure such as memory loss, fatigue, psychosis, hallucinations, and hysteria.

I would argue that the rat king is far more infectious then you might think, considering abby and all other people will need a gas mask in order to just approach the area it is in, but if we remove the environment and take the rat king just on its own , a person would STILL need a gas mask due to the spores that it is able to throw . Due to it being able to split into many parts , it also has strength in numbers to overwhelm it's enemy

I kinda hate durability ratings because most media and games dont stay consistent with fire arms. For example my own scale would involve how many 308 or 762 rounds the creature could withstand. Problem is games like to make rifle rounds all feel like .22 I dont care how much armor you have. The kinetic energy is still moving through you. 308 could possibly kill you with a chest shot to lvl4 plates. And i dont care how much mass you have a smaller super fast caliber is still going through you. Even if your 12 foot thick.

I say the most terrifying zombie are the Elite Savage Necrosis (dark minion variant) from SAS4. They're quite fast and strong, can pass through walls or obstacles and even ignore armor, can spit a combination of acid, fire & boomerang projectiles and are so durable that even weapons mounted on space ships take a long long time to kill them and even after you kill it, it divides itself into 3 smaller variants which deal massive fire, poison & physical damage They're also Dceased zombies from DC comics but those will be disqualified by the rules

In some of the PVZ lore (from PVZ1 Crazy Dave's dialogue Level 3-5 and the PVZ darkhorse comics), it was mentioned that the zombies were just clones made by Dr Zomboss, not actually fully infected beings, dont look at me on PVZ2 and the zombies from other timelines tho, since it's just zombies from another timeline while your house just stays the same with a few asthetic changes

I will say the the mutant zombie from road of the dead is the strongest, as they can out run vehicles, that includes the 2005 for mustang top speed is 112 mph and the military humvee, top speed being 70 mph, but not only that but they stay at past in from of the cars too meaning there top speed is close to 120, 2 you can see them jump very high, I looked at there jump and seems to be close to 2-3 stories high, 3 the disease turns there skin into bone, making into really strong armor, 4 at the end of road of the dead 1 when john escapes the city after it gets nuked and he drives off, a pack of them manged to survive a nuclear explode and just runs out into the highway. So I say they are some of the strongest zombies
