Stroke cannot be managed without an MDT - a multidisciplinary team, and that's fundamental to how we manage your care. We realise that none of us are experts in everything, so we focus on our 'bit' and work together and communicate together. The MDT in stroke is formed by a doctor, a nurse, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists and psychologists. Depending on the problem that they have, patients will generally need an acute stroke unit or a hyper acute stroke unit where there will be weekly or sometimes even daily MDT's about you to try and establish how we manage your care best and point you in the right direction, to make sure you're on the right treatment and getting the right specialist involved in your care.
