Following a transient or brief sudden onset vascular event, your risk tends to be highest, earliest. As discussed in other videos in this playlist, at seven days risk of second stroke is thought to be about 10% and at about a month it's 12 to 15%. What we know is that treating in the right way and doing the right tests can reduce that risk.
The key is in identifying the event early and getting put on the right treatment, bringing the risk of a second event down considerably.
