Which Tamagotchi is Right For You? (And How To Buy Them!)

I prefer the vintage Tamagotchi releases, I just feel like the character designs were more interesting and varied on vintage devices while the more recent releases all kind of feel like they're trying to ape sanrio character designs. But I did pick up a Tamagotchi On and I had fun with it, so i'm interested in checking out more modern Tama releases. I wish they'd reprint more of the vintage Tamas besides the p1 and p2, I need an angel that doesn't run on LR44, and connections are too expensive and the market is flooded with bunnyroms.

I feel like as someone who hasn’t used a tamagotchi in years I’d need the menus to be in english. I’m so bummed that the Tamagotchi On are being resold for like hundreds of dollars now.

I am more of a themed Tamagotchi Nano person...even though the replayability is low it is awesome to see themed versions come out

I used to love high maintenance tamas (so I ran like 20 off brand virtual pets at once for some time lol) But now depression has kicked in and I only have the energy to keep the nanos alive and I love how there are so many and they have so many evolutions as well! (and the newer gigapets are quite forgiving so they still alive too xD) But I ordered the upcoming One Piece Smart, so I’ll check that out soon. And of course the halloween themed smacard so I can get into halloween quite literally after everyone else is done with it :D

I have the Smart, a few Nanos, the Pix, and two re-release Tamagotchis. So far I love them all equally since they are all different gameplaywise. I am currently running the Smart with the Marine Change card downloaded into it. Awesome video by the way, now I REALLY want to get the Mothra Tama soon!

My favorite is the Sanrio x Tamagotchi Meets version! I love raising them and playing with the genetics. I love the sanrio one specifically because I can mix genes from the favorite sanrio characters

I really wish the nanos were closer in form factor to the minis. Those nano buttons are just so dang small! Speaking of the mini, it’s my favorite low-maintenance tama, basically a cute watch.

I only have Digimon vpets for now, but I'm super excited waiting for the tamas I ordered. I ordered the Evatchi, the Jurassic Park one, the Jordy korean one and the Toy Story one. They all look a lot of fun and different enough from each other, so hopefully I enjoy them all

I want to get a Tamagochi so I can attach it to my water bottle in hopes of remembering to drink (audhd is not being kidney friendly right now lol). I've been wanting to get the tinytan edition cause I'm a sucker for those lil cuties and their parents but not sure if it's actually worth the money. Any suggestions on which Tama might be best to attach to a water bottle? One that might have regular reminders but not so easy to kill? Thank you 💜

I did get my very first tamagotchi for the EXACT same reason xD Though you have to keep in mind the earlier version of the Tamagotchis were needier meaning they will beep more often, which might be good for the reminder to drink. The older the version get, the less you have to tend to them. In the newest version you even have a sort of daycare where you can give your Tama too so it wont make any sound because it's taken care of. So my suggestion would be getting one of the reboot Tamagotchis that are modeled after the original ones, because I guess they will keep you drinking water the most ;) They are also widly availble and are okay for the price I would say, I mean in Germany I paid 25€ for it

I did not previously realize that keeping a pet alive for a year or so would be near impossible with anything other than a Nano, and since they have interesting crossovers as well, I think I'll go for that one. :)

Hi, back in 2000 I had not official tamagotchi which had 69 different animals, which surprisal every different animal had 3-4 evolving stages and change shape different while grow up. now I don't see anything like that even on ebay. If anyone knows what I'm talking about and knows where to find these old school Tamo please advice where can I get them. Thanks in advance.

That sounds like a bunnyrom! i got the demon slayer one now. doesn't really need much attention and not much to do with it really. Would like something a little more like the original tamagotchi from 25 years ago. All the ones you mention though don't seem to fit that bill. Where you grow something up from an egg or whatever. Although maybe the smart? I don't know much about it. The ocean looks cool but too demanding.

Out of curiosity, what is your opinion on the Tamagotchi Angel? Based on what I’ve seen, it sounds fun and cute, but I do wonder if the simplicity would be charming or boring

Angel is my favorite vintage model, however, it has a huge downside of being very laggy with button inputs for the menus. It's pretty fun though and has a unique jumping minigame (think that chrome dino game but on a tama). Still have my old original one, although the metallic paint slightly wore off the wing decorations. Even more so than other vintage tamas I'd recommend keeping them in a case to stop that. I dunno what it is, but it rubs off very easily.

Smart was a Japanese release and Pix was a more international release. Pix was definitely after the Smart in any case - iirc Smart was late 2021 in Japan. Especially considering releases are usually delayed to Australia.

Connection series allowed you to name your Tama. So do Mix and Meets if I recall correctly.
