Cheers - thanks for this one...always good to hear how others go about organising for their tours etc. I have, in the past, typically overpacked, but I recently bought the 42 litre topbox for my Tiger 1200 (GT Pro) and its a revelation only taking a bag with a few t-shirts and pants in!! Don't focus on any negative comments (unless they're constructively critical)...I think the people who like your channel greatly outweigh those who only look to criticise etc....sod 'em! Keep the videos coming - I really enjoy the touring ones, as its something I absolutely love too!

Outstanding, insightful, and very helpful video my friend. You have taken the time to explain a lot of the questions that I had about packing, gear, preparedness etc.! I’ll have to pick up that bar riser extension, have noticed the same sensation after after nearly 3000 miles on my Rally Pro. I love your travel philosophy! You make it all look so easy! It’s so helpful. Keep it up. Cheers!

Just found your channel I enjoyed your informative approach, detailed and non sensationalist! Also interesting to hear your views on Pro v Rally, personally I preferred the GT range (a bit more nimble / manageable or at least that’s how it felt for me) and selected the Pro for broadly similar reasons. 850 miles in one leg is serious distance hats off to you, testament to how good the Tiger 1200 is whatever the iteration (and of course you’re own fitness) 👍

Great video, thanks! I currently ride a Tiger 800 XRx which is great, but seriously looking at a 1200. Still torn between the Rally Pro (love the khaki green, and also like a bit of soft-roading) and the GT Pro, which I believe is a bit more nimble in the twisties, and 5kg lighter for what it's worth. Haven't ridden the GT Pro yet, but can flat foot the Rally Pro even with the seat at full height, so the weight of the thing over my 800 is more of a concern than anything else. Decisions decisions!

@@MOTOUK1 Yep, love the look of the khaki green Rally from the side, but oddly enough prefer the view from the cockpit of the white and grey tank ;-) The Rally I'm looking at has Michelin Anakee Adventure (80/20) boots, which seem to get overall good reviews.

Thank you, good walk through. I am shopping for a bike and really like both the 900 and the 1200. I wonder, what is the life expectancy really? If I service it well, and on time, change wear parts like bearings and so on, would I expect it to make say 300K Km? Can I expect same ODO as on a car? Just wonder so I know, kind of what is the cost per milage, or km for me. Cheers from Swede in Mexico
@MOTOUK15 ай бұрын
Hi Magnus 👋 thanks for tuning in. I used to think bikes can go to 100k miles but with engines being so good these days I guess more with maintenance. I only ever take them to 30k then trade in for newer models
@magnusb63115 ай бұрын
@@MOTOUK1 Well, I cant afford to change that often. I understand that some street race bike that averages 7-8000 rpm cant last so long, but if one is driving around on something like a low rev bike, should they not be able to last much longer.Can one compare the total milage on a 30K bike with a 30K car (pounds, dollars or euros). I mean if I buy a Corolla, I would easily expect it to go 300,000 Km with just services. But can I with a BMW R18, a Can-Am Spyder, a Tiger 1200, a KTM SAS, a Harley?

Very good vid nick I’ve got a 900 RP is the 1200 worth the extra money ? Well said if people don’t like the way you talk jog on 👍 keep up the great vids
@MOTOUK1 Жыл бұрын
Answer: depends what you use for really, if it’s super long trips then yes, if not then no. You can do on both though but I think the extra comfort on the 1200, and the larger engine works better for longer trips. Now I don’t ride off road so can’t comment on that side. The 1200 is a big bike compared though so if you’ve never ridden one test ride first. Many thanks 🙏

And the dissipation of heat? I think T900 is not as brilliant as T1200 on this issue? @@MOTOUK1
I just don't get the 30L fuel deal, sure if you happen to live (or are going) somewhere very remote where finding fuel can be tricky it might be handy. The old argument of "it stops you having to stop for fuel so often" just doesn't hold water for me, my backside cries stop long before the 200+ miles and the 3 to 5hrs it takes to cover it.
@MOTOUK1 Жыл бұрын
Tbh on the explorer I sis the Switzerland trip on last year 2300 miles on 6 tanks was good while travelling abroad not knowing where the next fuel station is. I don’t do enough touring to warrant the 30lt. Also the tiger is one of the comfiest bikes I’ve ever ridden in 30 years. Did an 850 mile day no discomfort on it
@MW_1981 Жыл бұрын
I tried both and bought the Explorer. My decision was based on my commute to and from work which is 50 miles each way. I don’t ride every day as often travel by train, but I can get around 350 miles out of my tank which saves me having to fill it anywhere near as often. The bike also came with a higher spec and didn’t feel any heavier to me when I took them both for a test
