Dude. You should really remove the link. These products are irresponsible to even produce. Its extremely dangerous and will kill someone. Its a giant sawblade just feet away from your angle spinning in all directions. God forbid someone uses these and they catch and fly back at the user. You have a responsibility to your fans to promote safety. And buying any of these is probably the exact opposite of that 😅. Love your videos man. I appriciate all the work you do. I worked Wildland Fire for 8 summers. Weed used trimmers to clear around houses, and for prepping fire lines for controlled burns. I’ve tried a few different blades and always ended up going back to the triblade. Start out the day with it razor sharp. After a few hours of abuse it can be flipped and the other side is good to go. Bring a file with you and it can be brought back to life in about 10 minutes. For medium larger brush, get the rpm up and bounce it off the limb. Bring the rpm up again and repeat till it’s cut. The key is to hit it with whacks as opposed to trying to follow through like a saw blade. I love your channel, and you commitment to getting conclusive results.

I agree completely. I have a Stihl branded triblade on a larger bicycle handle trimmer and it's a monster. In woody brush up to about an inch thick, it barely slows down. Strike something that messes up your edge and you just flip it and keep going. Touch-up with a flat file is easy and keeps you in the game. While it's not as fast or efficient as the saw blades in thick material, you can chip away at occasional 3" trees without much trouble and still be much faster in mixed grass and brush environments.

It's supposed to have some sort of special washer that looks funny with a big can look and steel piece and then a reverse threaded nut. The reason why I say this is because I six years ago when I moved into this house I cleared a quarter acre with one of those blades that triangular one and I was going through brush and everything it was the RPM that did it I was slammed the machine back and forth they didn't break and it still runs. God I do not trust any of these except the three-blade one. They all seem pretty suicidal, especially that gator thing... If you can't cut it with the tri-blade, you get a chainsaw or something else but I would not consider these things an option, especially if you can't use the guard with it. I'd like to keep my legs, they've grown on me over the years.

I've been using the Grass Gator with their heavy duty metal blades for years, and I absolutely love it. They aren't going to take down trees, but they can make quick work of brush. At our property it's very easy to run into hidden rocks, fencing material and other hard objects, when cutting brush. So I would never even consider using a fixed blade. The free swinging blades on the Grass Gator are pretty forgiving with such encounters.

i buy a 4 blade cutter much like the craft top but 4 blades, then i use a zip cutter and grind saw teeth on the ends, works great in grass, black berries and small brush, for grass only i make a 6" disk out of a plastic cutting board, then i drill 3/8" holes around the edge where i loop string in two places 180 degrees apart, over time the string holes tear out and i just move to the next set, i need to find myself a good supply of 900lb test mono line, that stuff lasts and lasts.

This is MUCH safer than using a chainsaw. I have done brush cutting and cutting small trees with a carbide blade for years. I bought a Cub Cadet BC280 at TSC over two years ago that is 27 CC. I only use Renegade hybrid blades on it and have cut down a forest of saplings over two inches in diameter with it. The Cub Cadet came with a 3 blade that was virtually useless for cutting anything bigger than 1/2 inch in diameter which leads me to believe your Troy would do just fine with a Renegade since it came with a 3 blade. I hope this helps. :-)

I need help. Based on this review/video, I bought a Renegade Razor blade, but cannot find a kit to get it installed on my Greenworks 10A 18" string trimmer. Greenworks support was not much help. Suggestions are very welcome.
@eugeneperkins76244 жыл бұрын
Greenworks dealer here. You won't find one That trimmer is not up to the job of running a blade or cutting brush, so to prevent people from putting a blade on it, they make it nearly impossible to do. Doing so will also void your warranty Greenworks does make a blade capable trimmer, but it is one of the commercial grade 82 volt cordless models, and very expensive. If most of your needs are met by the model you have, then I recommend renting a brush cutter for the weekend to take out your brush. Much cheaper than buying and maintaining a blade capable trimmer that you almost never use
@utrutr60134 жыл бұрын
@@eugeneperkins7624 Thanks for your informative reply. Sounds like I chose the wrong item because my initial goal was for the trimmer to do both trimming and brush cut, but yea if you're saying this unit can't do it, then I'll have to look for another brush cutting solution.

Great information. Years ago I was tired of wimpy thin weed wacker string. Garage door cable works well on grass but it unravels then loses its effectiveness. 12 gauge steel wire works great on grass but it doesn't last long. Nylon baling twine works well on grass. I got one of those triangular cutters like the one you had with nylon blades except mine had metal blades, best one yet for heavy grass and very light brush, very poor Chinese quality, it only lasted about 2 days. Got a triangular blade that had blunt cutting sides, I sharpened those and it worked well on grass and light brush. My last trial was putting on a carbide skill saw blade, which is great on light to heavy brush.

I think you are cutting the brush wrong, atleast when hitting the 1.5 and above inches. When I worked in the civil military as a summer job cutting grass and brush, I had training in which we where thought to hit the brush/tree with a descent hard swing with our hips, instead of a casual swing in the desired direction of the blade. The way you where doing it would only make it harder to cut through and could make the blade get stuck or even wear it down quicker. Just a tip for the thick brush.

@@ProjectFarm no kidding. I live in Alabama and own 2 of these blades that I use commercially. FAR superior to any blade on the market in pretty much every application. The Renegade blades are SLIGHTLY faster at cutting larger trees (over 3-4 in. diameter) but the Brushdestructor can cut larger trees (as large as you care to cut before breaking out a chainsaw) , mulch brush and briars, and finish cut grass. Kind of pricey but well worth it and then some. One would last a homeowner for the duration of his life. Literally. Note to let's find out. Not noted in your testing, all the metal blades have have a high risk of sparking when coming in contact with the the ground. Depending on time of year (wet or dry season) within the surroundings may dictate blade materials to be used. Thus a string, Gator or any other plastic type blade is more appropriate in dry grass.
