Prince's solo in the tribute to George Harrison in 2004 in the song "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" is famous. But was it a form of revenge? A few months earlier, Rolling Stones magazine had made a list of the 100 best guitarists. Prince was not on the list. Weeks later Joel Gallen, who produced and planned the tribute concert, invited Prince to play. George Harrison's widow did not agree, as she believed that only people who had worked with Harrison should participate. But Prince made the list anyway and would play on the song "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" along with Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, Steve Winwood and Marc Mann. During rehearsals, guitarist Marc Mann tried to exclude Prince from the solos. When Joel Gallen found out, he apologized profusely to Prince. Prince said that Marc Mann could do whatever he wanted as long as he was promised the last solo, after which he left the rehearsal studio. At the concert, he stood anonymously on the left side of the stage until the last minutes of the number. Then he probably did one of the most spectacular live guitar solos I've heard. It should be noted that it was without having participated in the rehearsals. Prince ends by throwing his guitar high into the air, which according to rumors has never been found again, turns on his heel and walks off the stage without waiting for the applause. The next list, which the Rolling Stones made about guitarists of all time, was Prince no. 14. Rock history, when it's your best!

Yeah, the proverbial "Mic drop"! And it is also so nice to listen to people who can actually play and sing. The Beatles songs I actually like was written by George Harrison.

Pretty accurate except for the guitar not being found. It was caught and never lost. But to the cameras, it appears to be heavensent from Prince to George Harrison. R.I.P..

Everybody forgets that the son of the person that wrote the song is playing here also. George Harrison of The Beatles wrote it and his son Dhani Harrison is playing acoustic guitar here. Looks exactly like a young George

All there were kings but Prince was The Prince, and they knew it and loved when he looked at them and then they nodded back to him, just go on pal, just go on. You see on acoustic guitar George Harrison's son Dhani just smiling. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers with Free Falling or Jeff Lynne with Telephone Line... As another suggestion go for 7 Seconds" that is a song performed by Senegalese singer-songwriter Youssou N'Dour and Swedish singer-songwriter Neneh Cherry. You'll understand when you listen to it.

Thanks for this - it is always fun to watch/hear this performance. Stage full of absolute legends and.......Prince. He could just never be upstaged. If you haven't seen the skit Dave Chapelle does on Prince, you should. So funny and accurate. Also, these other guys - Steve Winwood is such a good singer/songwriter/performer, and Arc of a Diver is a classic album. Jeff Lynn was a musical god in the '70's'-'80's and produced and wrote hits for a lot of artists. Tom Petty is a guy who basically wrote the score to many people's lives in those same -70's through '90's years. Dani Harrison represents an iconic presence, because his dad, Beatle and solo artist George Harrison, obviously wrote and performed the original version of the song.
