Inventory management is a full time job is this game, which is why I grab every backpack or pouch I see. I throw books in one, scrolls in another,I have a bag that I throw all my wares in, I have pouches for potions etc. If they get too heavy I give them to someone else to carry or send the whole bag to camp. I probably wouldn't have to do all that to keep things neat if I wasn't such a loot goblin but I need all the things.

Tip for rogues. If enemies are threatened (adjacent ally) you can attack them with ranged and melee sneak attack.

yea it takes awhile to realize, there’s not an indication that sneak attack is available, just when you can’t use it. i find myself having to do that later in game to make the levels of rogue worth it in combat lol

I see you found the strongest legendary weapon already. In BG2 it was Carsomyr, badass two handed sword for paladins, unmatched by anything else. Here, you have something stronger, the legendary power of shove! Goddamit finished the game 5 times already, tried to be thorough through my playthrough, only on my second play I found Kagha's chest, but I never discovered the wall painting and its history use on Kagha persuasion(so frking obvious! My completionist OCD is triggering hard right now xD ). Goddamn I bet even on my 10+ playthroughs I'll still be discovering new things. Can't wait for future parts, I'm always like "will Whimsey discover here this and that already or will it be in antoher video" xD

you did very well with the fights in the swamp! you pick up things fast. the enemies there are level 4, that is not easy for a level 3 group. you can cancel concentration spells (like cloud of daggers) anytime , there is a little icon for them with an x bottom left, also you can move/recast some of the spells you are concentrating on for free every round (without spending another spellslot), they are shown on the bottom right side then, like cloud of daggers, witchbolt….

Those wild magic surges are already having hilarious consequences, loved the swap into the cloud of daggers 😂 I both love and hate that spell, it has won many battles for me, and promptly injured/downed companions directly after.

Great episode!! Lilith's magic was going WILD in all those fights(and Whimsy was starting to unlock the power of all those casters in the party ;D). I think I saw someone else mention it but some spells will allow you to recast without using an additional spell slot for more dmg(witchbolt) or to move it(cloud of daggers)... just something to think about going forward. Love the long episode no need to apologize!!

Pretty late to the party, but I just wanted to share a “secret” I discovered with Raphael, you can actually pickpocket him while he talk with one of your characters (if you un group for example Astarion and the rest talks with him) he has a pretty interesting journal, I don’t know this for sure, but if you meet him later you can prolly try to pickpocket him. 😁

1:43:41 some books considered as stealing even if you will just try to read them. Press the context menu (square) first, so you can understand is it safe to read it or not. P.S. this game really needs a full (digital) manual, like every game in the 1990s have. The controls in BG3 is very complicated even for RPG veterans. P.S.S. Can't wait for the next video.

Some real epic fights in this one. Great episode. It's very cool that you can toggle your armor so it is hidden, and you can have your camp clothes visible when in combat.

With rogue you can always do sneak attack, if enemy is standing 1,5 meters from YOUR ally, so use it always. Also, if someone is downed, raise it with BONUS action, using healing word, so that you can also attack in that round. You must focus on doing more damage, rather than doing many control spells in battle. If you want to control battlefield, do those BEFORE battle, not during battle. Also focus on getting enemies down one by one, rather than attacking little bit all at once. Also, EXAMINE enemies, before attacking, so that you know their strengths and weaknesses. They could be vulnerable to something, or immune to something. One extra tip: Try to make enemies come to you, rather than run into them, then it is easier to take them down one by one... if you keep retreating slowly, so they all can not get to you at the same time. Also try casting find familiar spell. Just out of battle. Also, consider getting 2 hand crossbows for Astarion. He can shoot twice as often.

26:46 yes, and you wouldn't know in hindsight, so like many players it would be confusing, especially with all the food being also disguised as normal one, so you would pick up/send to camp lots of poisoned food xD 36:12 yes, magic missile, the best low-level spell, since it always hits as long as caster sees the target btw, you can always stop concentrating on spell at any time, helps with strategy, and sometimes with dumb allies/companions AI running through cloud of daggers or whatever also, as long as there is a next controlled companion in the queue, you can also cancel "ending" of someone's turn there are so many paths to deal with "Kagha's power trip", glad you've found one of the more rare ones, and the coolest one, since it adds to the lore of shadow druids, that is already presented in some books and journals within the game so cool you went for redcaps re-match and won against them on strategy alone, lol, low-levels can be brutal one, especially in here, the difference between 3 and 4-5 is a lot. also, meet Raphael, such a tease 😈

This was so fun! Raphael is SUCH a great character. The music, transporting the House of Hope, his true form - it's all so good! Never seen that scene with Alfira before, that was actually really beautiful. TOTALLY agree about dismissing characters. Ugh, it's super annoying. I wish there was just an automatic "join/go away" button. All the companions are wonderful, but Astarion is hands down my fav. His chaos, flamboyant nature and humor really make it fun to always bring him along, while his backstory and experience with severe trauma can really strike a cord. He just needs some positive support ❤ Thanks for a great video!

I think of two reasons: 1. If “no talk option” would be there, player wouldn't be encouraged to talk to companions that much 2. If there would be inventory management in camp for all companions, people wouldn't take companions to the party even more so, leaving “not wanted” always out I think that this is the intention for the design. HOWEVER, I totally agree that there should be a toogable option to join/dismiss companions without dialogue, because on 2nd/3rd run it isn't really that fun, even during 1st run later on it isn't really fun. And inventory for all companions, not just in the party, would make things so much smoother, overall better QoL.

Nice, you save Khaga! I coulnd't (have'nt read the right plaque, i imagine); i confront her but the fight was me, Rhat and his wolf again everybody else in the room. It was hard!!!! After Winning, Rath gave me a Staff making me the "protector of the grove" while we wait for Hansin! That game is so impressive. Even that bad outcome turn out quite good to me!!!

if you get in a new area too the companions usually have something to say but only while you are in that area so talk to them at that point.

Just think of variations. You explore and go in some random location, there you find the letter that implicates Kagha. But what if you didn't, right? There are some many ways, long (that take basically whole act, because it isn't containted resolution to the grove area) and short one to resolve this situation with, more or less, different outcomes, it is insane. Also, I know you're probably far enough, but still, talking with party in wilderness/on location or after some event like "Raphael" will bring up some dialogue, you can speak with them right away, not just in the camp, they either share their thoughts or say something about the location you're in.

Again, Backseating but I just want to be helpful. Feel free to disregard. Be mindful of creature types, like Humanoid, monstruosity, fae, aberration, etc, as some spells only affect certain types of creatures. The redcaps are indeed strong even for a lvl 4 or unprepared 5th level party (expended resources etc.) but Shart (You know, the lovely Shadowheart) has a spell called protect from evil and good that protects from several creature types, one such type being fae. This spells makes any creature type have Disadvantage on attack rolls against the protected target. Also, sanctuary makes the affected person untargetable unless it damages another creature or casts a harmful spell. This means you can have Best Girl Shart concentrating on protecting someone and also avoiding getting hit (risking losing concentration) while still being able to heal party members. Once again, a pleasure watching your playthrough, the Eternal DM in me is just happy to watch players play. 😎

The songwriting scene and the song itself are so beautiful! The lyrics make me teary-eyed every time. Very cool scenes in this episode overall! I wish the UI was utilizing screen space a bit better. The UI for containers/looting/dying pieces of armor is very small. It would also be nice if using a dye brought up only the items that can be dyed and not the entire inventory in that small loot window.

In this game, for some reason, when you leave someone in the camp, next time the equiped helmet will show, no matter if you hide it or not. After a while I decided to have a party with no helmet at all.

my solution is to just unequip their helmet before i remove them from the party, it’s a little tedious but i don’t have to do it often since i always have astarion and shadowheart in my party so i usually only have to do it one companion every so often.

Sweetheart, you should not leave anything behind because of white. You can send it directly to Camping. You don’t even have to pick it up. You can click the square and I’ll give you the option to send it straight to camp. Don’t leave anything behind because then you can go back to camp and get it out of the chest and take it and sell it stand right before the seller and you can jump right back to camp grab it take it to the seller and sell it. And you can also hold the square button down and choose multiple things to send to camp in your own inventory, or on loot

Party member management is not that bad in BG3. At least you have them all in your camp and can switch them out whenever you like. In BG 1 and 2 there was no such thing. Most Party Members gathered in an Inn and you had to go there and pick them up later when you wanted to have them with you. Some of them even left for good and never were be seen again if you threw them out of your group. And especially in BG1 there are so many possible companions that even me, who played the game ten times or more, did not have all of them.

Another good thing about the companion system in BG3 is, they level up even when they are not with you. As soon as you get them into your group, they level up to your level. In BG1 there were late-game companions who were severely underleveled so I never took them with me.

I'm actually still in Act 1 currently, almost 40 hours in 🤣 It's not to tease at all, it's normal for content creators to film episodes in advance, so that we have time to edit it and upload it consistently without interruptions (for me it's 3 uploads a week) even if we get sick or something like that!

Nooo I highly recommend it in tabletop, it was SO funny for us! You can do a homebrew and just tailor it to be more funny than annoying, if that makes sense. I thought it added such a cool layer to the campaign with my character, but of course it's not to everyone's taste so I understand if you personally don't like it!

@@WhimsyPsyche I feel like as a player I'm already rolling too many dice and D&D is already very random when compared to other RPGs, that's why I don't love it (plus the original 5e wild magic table is pretty bad, you should 100% homebrew it or steal some of the old ones from 3.5, AD&D, etc, if you're using it). By the previous paragraph, I think you can guess I'm into Divination Wizards, Battlemaster Fighters, the Lucky Feat or pretty much anything that makes me control my rolls a little more. But I understand it if you love it, some of my players do too.
