I know that this is going to sound corny but i had this one phase in life where i was wondering what can i do to be the best at something and i kept thinking that it was all genetics that got people to where they are and yeah it does apply to some situations but i thought that it was only genetics that got people as good at something as they are now, until i watched this movie and i finally found out its not just genetics its also training every day and thinking what you are doing always.

That actually sort of happens in whiplash. If you look at the details, you'll see that at the beginning of the movie when we are first introduced to Andrew, you'll see he has a white shirt as opposed to fletcher who has a black shirt, but throughout the movie, as he spends more and more time with fletcher, you'll see that he has a black shirt as well, showing how he's been influenced by fletcher. But when andrew gets kicked out of the school, he begins wearing white or light colored shirts again. I think it's a pretty nice detail.

That's why this film is so deep and pretty horrifying as well. This movie is Andrews descent into being a puppet by Fletcher who is seen as this mastermind at music while deep down, he is also a master manipulator who got what he wanted in the end

Well I think no-one should idealize this at all, this savagery is not good at all. Fletcher has successfully influenced him with his extreme methods, and sees how he has turned out to be as a person. This passive aggressive attitude coupled with perfection is really not something one should visualize. I am not saying Fletcher didn't help him to become an exceptional drummer, that is there for sure. But what I am concerned about is that Andrew (just like Stockholm Syndrome) became blindly influenced by him even after all abuses so much so reflecting Fletcher's attitude in himself as well. Feels more like an abusive grandfather created by an abusive father and so goes on the chain throughout just to maintain discipline and order all for perfection (which definitely comes out) but at the cost of being inhuman. That's why in the end people don't understand that it's not a happy ending, Fletcher won with his methods.
