I’m glad to see you peeled the cucumbers. A lot of folks don’t realize that when they eat cucumbers with the peeling on and they get stomach upset it’s because the peel takes longer to digest.

There's just nothing better! I make this every summer and my garden is coming in now. This salad is the gold standard for summer. It's beautiful and refreshing...so good with fresh peas, butter beans, fried okra, fried corn and hot, crispy cornbread! Lip-smakcin' good'! I'm going to make it this weekend! I liked and subscribed! Whippoorwill Holler , Lori my mother in law used to make a slaw/salad for me that I loved. She’s been gone some time now and I haven’t had it since the last time she made it for me. From what I remember it was shredded cabbage, sliced green olives and she used celery seed so idk if it originally called for celery, and a vinegar, oil, sugar marinade. It’s been so long that’s all I can remember about it, other than being so good😂☺️. Have you heard of a salad that sounds like this?? I’m so craving it because it was such a good hot weather salad☺️. I feel so blessed to have found your channel. Our grandmothers must have been so much alike, both coming from a time when there were family values, hard work, church, helping others🙏🏼. No one was ever a stranger at my Mama Ella’s, no one ever left hungry, and she was faithful and serving to her little Primitive Baptist church🙏🏼. I have a few channels they are not afraid to talk about God and Jesus and I love to watch them as well. If you get a chance White Sparrow Living and Hillbilly Kitchen deserve mentioning. Hillbilly Kitchen cooks and Wendy at White Sparrow Living delivers a message as she makes beautiful crafts, mostly Christian inspired💗. Hope you know this cabbage recipe, as you say, “it’ll be good☺️💗”. Blessings to you and yours🙏🏼

We make this but do it a little differently. We make it with a homemade balsamic vinaigrette, no sugar, no water. Miss Lori, you are absolutely correct about appetites changing in the hot weather. Loved this salad video. Sometimes you do a recipe that is a very strong memory of growing up in the south! When that happens, I really feel that your like friends that I used to visit on Sunday afternoons after church. This salad is one of them. Along with fried chicken, rice and black eyed peas, corn bread collard greens. I do declare that time was different below the mason dixon line. You all are such a blessing.

My favorite salad of all time. I've had it made with cucumbers, bell peppers and onions (no tomatoes). I've had it with just tomatoes and onions. I grew up with just onions and cucumbers - served with sliced tomatoes on the side. I've had the marinade with red wine vinegar, white vinegar, apple cider vinegar, with and without sugar, with honey -- they are all excellent. My favorite this summer was throwing it all together, adding cauliflower and serving it with a pita spread with some hummus.
