Thank you so much for this video! It made thermostat replacement very easy and quick. The replacement thermostat I got already had the rubber tubing on the capillary line, so I didn't even have to switch that out.

So is the Capillary tube suppose to plug into something?... or do you just wrap it around in those brackets on the holder? Also about 6 inches of the end of the tube are uncovered... should i have slide the cover tubing down to cover the wire on the open end? Cause about half of my capillary tube that is wrapped around the little block is uncovered.

Where is the capillary tube going to on an older Kenmore (circa 2002) with the freezer on the top of fridge. Does it go to the Evaporator fan area in the freezer? Thanks. Phil

Got the recommended oem thermostat based on the model number (confirmed it’s right when putting my fridge model number in the Whirlpool website). But the prong terminals on this new one are side by side rather than stacked vertically. Only markings is one seems have an L on it and the other a C. 🤷‍♂️ no idea which plug goes where. Figured I had a fifty fifty shot so I put it back together. The fridge is running but how do I know I did it right? What would happen if it was backwards? Would it still run?

If your wires in your fridge were orange and red, the orange goes on L, the red goes on C. That's all I know.

@@algonzalez7764 i don't remember which colors went where but somewhere else i saw someone say it doesn't matter in this case, something about it being a switch... i don't really know but whichever way i put it in there, it's been working. you got a fifty fifty shot, right? i say go ahead and pick one

Hi, i ordered a replacement thermostat and it comes with a long bare wire that fits in a tube that is mostly hidden heading towards the back of my fridge freezer, my question is how far should i push the wire and is it supposed to fit in to something at the back ? As its hidden im just going off guesswork, do you have any advice ?

It is likely the thermostats sensing bulb which is a tube filled with a gas that expands and contracts with change in temperature. That pressure change inside operates the diapram inside the control to open and close the contacts. We would need your model number to direct you to exactly where it terminates but most likely it goes into a channel or a clamp that mounts on the back side of your evaporator.

The thermostat I received, WP2198202 looks different than the one in the refrigerator (ED25PQXDN01). The wire contacts on the replacement part are oriented front and back instead of up and down as on the old part. I have a red (top) and orange (bottom) wire. Which wire goes to which contact on the new part? REPLY

Hello Jim, I have researched your model and the manufacture has discontinued the original thermostat and has now updated it to WP2198202 that you have received. I would suggest contacting Whirlpool (1-800-688-2002) about how to install the updated part.

Hello, here are the most common symptoms of a refrigerator that needs a new thermostat: -Freezer section too cold -Freezer won't defrost -Fridge and freezer are not keeping cold -Fridge section is too cold -Fridge's compressor fan will not engage or work consistently Hope this helps!
