Here we go over the truth about Chad Ferguson whisker seeker rods. There are a few cons as well as allot of pros when it comes to these catfish rods. In my opinion they are one of the best fishing rods on the market especially at this price point I would consider them a budget friendly rod. Thanks for the feedback. The rods you had issues with the cork flaking were the original handle style. When we first built the rods we have to do an EVA under core with a composite cork overlay and then we ultimately were able to change the handle material and we eliminated the EVA under core and went with a full cork composite handle which resolved the issues with the cork flaking. The handles are now 100% cork composite on all rods and have been for quite some time. To my knowledge, we have not had any issues with them.

Yeah, but what about the fading orange? Have you taken measures to stop this? Seems like a lack of UV inhibitor in it's paint and coatings, is that it?

I can say I have been using the whisker seeker rods exclusively for the past 5-6 months on ALL my guided fishing trips out here on Lake Tawakoni Texas. I have put these rods under extreme stress and pressure. I have drifted with them many miles and catches in SmackDown rod holders and the cork has held up great. Being in the sun constantly the rod still look as good as they did when I received them new. Hard to beat the action they are for sure not like fishing with a broomstick I simply love the action with all the different rods they offer..Thought I would add my two cents ...Keith Parks M.W.T.F

I used to have a 9'6" fmj casting rod but I couldnt see it as well at night so I sold it to a buddy and I still have one of the 7' catfish and carp signature series carbon rods and its nice. not much control fighting big carp or catfish above 25# but its a blast and I also have the whisker stick ice rod from whisker seeker. lol

I picked up a 9’6” H FMJ model and paired it with an abu Garcia 7000 since I wanted something that could handle decent size cats but also something I could take out to the surf. Good to hear that the heavy power still feels good enough to catch smaller fish!

I own 5 whisker seeker rods and I love them, never had any issues with the cork myself and I use mine 4-7 times a week. The color does fade, but almost everything I own does after a summer on the Mississippi lol.

They say the newer rods the cork doesn't flake off like that those were the previous version. Great rods I love em actually added more to the arsenal

A friend of mine picked up the 7'6" spinning rod version after he broke a Nash Dwarf. He loves huge balls of packbait on 3oz method feeders and they handle it really well. I do think they could improve on the guides for the spinning rods, but they work.

I have 2 7'6 heavy, 2 7'6 med heavy, 1 catfish and carp and 1 38in ice rod. I love them all.I like the med heavy much more than the heavys I just feel the Heavys are too stiff for my liking. Definitely my favorite rods and they are local to me so that's a plus.

My dad has 2 of the full metal jacket and he put a UV protector clear coat on it. Seems to help keep the orange bright.

Really thinking about purchasing another one. Had one for about a year and loved it. One night fishing a high wall at my local river I lost it. When casting out the tip broke off in the middle of a cast causing me to fumble it. Next thing I knew my rod and reel (abu catfish special 6600) went over the edge into the river. They said I needed the rod for complete refund or they would offer the 50% off warranty. I was so upset with the whole situation. I did not purchase another one. Now tho I miss having the non bulky rod especially in my kayak and thinking about purchasing two more. Just don’t know yet. Are they still your favorite rods?

I believe they have deals at certain times on the shipping or maybe its spend so much money and get free shipping. Im not really sure just check out there website it should have all the information you need. I have always received mine quickly. They typically have some really good black friday sales events as well.

My first real catfish rod before this I just used your basic 50$ Walmart combos I’m a bass fishermen and didn’t think you needed the same sensitive stuff in the rods etc I was wrong catfishing is a sport for sure and a lot goes into it I’ve been learning a lot the past 4 months and have caught a lot of catfish now and I enjoy almost more then bass fishing now I plan to get several of these rods but 99$ is a lot when you add it up about 6 times lol 😅

These are probably my favorite rods on market these and st croix mojo cat however st croix are expensive double the price whisker seeker is one of the only true rods designed for cats unlike most of the other rods you find I've fished with so many broom stick rods they are just not fun whisker seeker hit a home run with these

There rated for 12 ounces I believe. I can feel a couple ounces. I think I have a slow motion video distance casting and the tip flexes nicely

I fish heavy currents using up to 20 ounces of weight. I push rods to above there Weight ratings and never broke one. Wanting a 9'6 heavy if you think it's up to the challenge!

the heavy action is rated for 12 ounces of lead. Thats what they consider it to be able to cast on the high end. That doesnt mean allot as rods are capable of handling fish that weigh considerably more then that. What it does mean is if your throwing more weight then 12 ounces you will not get the maximum distance and that there is a possibility of failure if done incorrectly. If you do pick one up let me know how you like it. Still my favorite rods.
