The black walnut with maple is classic. If I am using maple syrup as my sweetener in a old fashion i always use them along with my ango. Its common enough around my house that we just called it an Old Fashion #3. #2 is a "Wisconsin Old Fashion" with some light muddling of the cherry and little of the juice of an orange slice, and the #1 is classic; but even then i like to use on dash of orange bitters along with my ango

2:24, that was right, you want to dry shake the egg white to emulsify it with the rest of the drink, since it emulsifies better when warml. since theres no ice inside, the interior wont be cooling down, which increases pressure, and creates a better seal when shaking. you have to hold it very tight, because the air inside wants to expand the cups apart, causing leaks

Tip for easier old fashioneds...add the ingredients (minus peel and cherry) to a pint or mixing glass first, add ice, stir for twenty seconds, and then strain into a rocks glass with a large ice cube or sphere before adding your garnishes. Also, using a brown sugar or demerara simple syrup instead of muddling sugar cubes is both easier and doesn't leave you with a sugar sludge at the bottom of your drink.

I'm very pleased to see a pro version too!! Very fun video, but to be fair to the videos they are following they should really follow the recipe. You need to dry shake to get the point of the egg or just not use it. Also taste test before finding out who's is who's!
