Rex and Daniel talk about PewDiePie's scotch collection and recommend several more scotches to try. Check out his whisky video here: • Video

** Can I donate a whisk(e)y for you to review in The Whisk(e)y Vault?
Of course! If you’re interested in making a tax deductible donation towards our whiskey selection, head on over to:
austinwhiskyvau...
** What's with the necklaces?
Rex is a whiskey mooch. His necklace is a manifestation of pure glory - forged from the irradiated bones of eagles and wolves. Also a tube sock.
See the origin story here: goo.gl/JMc2Hr
Daniel is a whiskey sommelier. His necklace is a token of his sommelier level, and he trains whiskey sommeliers at The Whisk(e)y Marketing School in Austin Texas.
**A Whisk(e)y school?
Yup. Here are a few things we believe.
** You don’t have to be a snob to appreciate and love great whiskey.
Whisky and Whiskey (it depends on where it’s from) have been an important part of cultures around the world from time immemorial. Whiskey is a part of the very fabric of Western society, and in most places, is as common and accessible as beer.
Like Jazz and wine, snobs have predictably hijacked whiskey appreciation, spoiling our natural, common connection with it and creating a false dichotomy of “good whiskey” and “bad whiskey.”
It’s time to break through the emotional bias with facts and science. That’s what this school is about.
** The only valid definition of “good” whiskey is “whiskey you like to drink.”
Learning how to share your love of whiskey in a way that connects people to the history and the story has more to do with public speaking and storytelling than it does with facts and tests.
The best way to learn about whiskey and share that love is to drink whiskey and talk about it with friends. Study the history, find the stories, and discover the culture and the methods that have been developed over hundreds of years. That’s what you’ll do when you attend The Whisk(e)y Marketing School.
** You don’t need a marketing degree to learn how to share your love of whiskey with the world.
There's an old saying, "In business, it's not what you know... It's who you know."
Regardless the industry you're in, most people are clumsy and ineffective when it comes to "networking" because they ignore a very important rule - Relationship First, Business Second.
There's a tremendous amount of curiosity about Whisk(e)y today. It's a great excuse for you to gather a group of people who want to have fun and learn something new. The Whisk(e)y School teaches you how to tap into that curiosity, and share your love of whisk(e)y in an unpretentious way. You're demonstrating knowledge, expertise, and an engaging personality - things valued by every gatekeeper, in every industry.
Or would you rather hand out business cards and cross your fingers?

Alright story time. I recently received an email because a liquor store was robbed. They lost 52,000 dollars worth of whiskey. The thieves stole three bottles. THREE. Tullalibardine 1952, Maccalan Reflextion and Highland Park 50 year. Rex what were you doing in New Jersey?

So, I´ve been lurking on this channel on and off and am usually not one to write comments. First of all I love your channel, awesome content and very informative. The way you guys present and analyze whisky makes me want to drink one immediately, so i refrain from watching your videos during daytime ;) Secondly, after the whole "pewdiepie thing" I am glad you made this video. I was quite sure you did not want to do it after what happened. But the Mooch is right, business is business and you guys need more views and subscribers and I think you communicated your intolerance of said matter quite well in the video. Lastly, thank your for your videos and keep it up!

Chris here, when I first started drinking whisky I would get the sweeter stuff because (I thought) I would like sweet rather than something that "wouldn't buy me dinner first". They were okay, but nothing ever really jumped out and grabbed me. I am a frequent pipe tobacco and cigar smoker so I decided to try a smoky whisky. I bought Laphroaig 10. This whisky tickled every single one of my taste buds and I immediately fell in love it Islay peat. Absolutely wonderful whisky. Since you compared it to the Ardbeg 10 I think I'll try that one next. You guys are awesome, and good luck on your new distillery.

Hey guys Would you recommend talisker 10 (79$)?Compared to laphroaig 10(85$) or quarter cask (73$)? I'm probably gonna tried them all but I can't decide which one to chose first, there is no bar with them near me. I'm a lover of lagavulin 16, highland park 12, Yamasaki 12, aberlour 12. I'm also thinking of replacing my aberlour 12 which is almost empty with something like a glendronach 12 or dalmore 12 or something else Thanks !

So my wife and I just went through tasting each of these at a local whiskey bar in Chicago (where we live). I have to say that my brain is having the hardest time wrapping itself around the taste to smell differences of some of the whiskeys. The tomintoul for example, which was the green bottled "peaty tang" version not what you had tasted great and just as Rex described...apple juice. But the smell was so strong with that smoker wood chip smell that my brain was totally confused as to what to think. However, since I started watching you guys I can honestly say that my collection has been growing along with my taste. Although, I do have to say that while my wife is leaning towards the Scotches on this list, I'm still all about the bourbons. I have a sweeter pallet and tend to go gravitate that way even though the speysides we drank tasted exceptional. I look forward to your videos each day to share a drink with someone each night even if it is by myself and my computer at times....Keep up the reviews and what you're doing, and I can't wait to get a bottle of your product as I'm sure it will be exceptional. Dilly Dilly and cheers!

DracoRogue1218 as far as bourbon’s go, try Larceny, and really any speyside scotch Glenfiddich or Glenlivet being cheaper but solid options! I don’t get any pepper of rye in either of those three!

WisdomForWizards I dislike rye in whiskey, NOT SAYING I HATE RYE WHISKEY MIND YOU, because I appreciate the vanilla, chocolate, fruit, and sweetness, but the pepper bite & tingle is like ... if you took a chocolate ice cream with strawberry & coffee crisps and just dumping 2 Tbsp of cracked black pepper into it. Not a fan, but rye whiskey is meant to be that, so I can’t hate it

I have to agree with the Laphoaig. I had some whiskys over the years but wasn't in love, used to need to mix it with coke but then then a friend let me try some of his Laphroaig neat and I immediately fell in love with the smokiness of it and it's still one of my fav whiskies which I have a soft spot for (which I think is more due to being the first I fell in love with). Whiskey Vault indeed. We're joining them. We all love your content! One suggestion (that will double your editing time) but we think cut sways to the labels of the bottles you are tasting would be a cool touch. You're our official virtual whisky Sommeliers!

Randomly hit the jackpot here. Was looking for Auchentoshan Three Wood reviews **LAST NIGHT** after I poured a glass and got a very clear "cat manure" note from it. I wonder if I got a bad bottle. No one talks about this on the nose. The palette is fine. Lazy, if anything. But the nose is vanilla, tobacco, and litter box.

I'm one of those rare breed guy who fell in love with Laphroig. I only drank Talisker before, not even that much, let's say that it was the only whisky that I knew and wanted to explore this whisky world some people are excited about, so a crazy barman said "Oh, you should try this, it's my favourite", poured me a glass of Laphroig 10 (neat) and it was like HOLY SHIT/10.

This is probably the only comment section on a KZbin video where I couldn't find any unintelligent rude comment. Maybe that's a sign! Thanks guys for doing another pewds video. Great video (like all the others)!

Bought an Ardbeg for my father at father's day. He decided to share it with me, and let me tell ya. I thought nothing would come close to Lagavulin is likabillity. Don't get me wrong, it's still at the top but man, oh man. Ardbeg is one fine whiskey. Needless to say I bought one for me too. I think it might be something with swedes who likes whiskey, I thought I was rare because I liked smoked whiskey. But I recently met another 19 year old who also loves Ardbeg. Might be the whole thing about black liquorice from young age that hardens our tongues. Also, what is the major difference between Ardbeg Uigeadail and normal Ardbeg? Should I choose the Uigeadail over the OG at all times? Thanks for the entertainment!

OG is a bit more friendly and not as complex. But they're both great

I'm new to your channel, but i do enjoy these pewdiepie crossovers you've been doing. It's really informative to watch someone who has an approximate knowledge of whisky present some good options, and then get to see the experts evaluate them and offer alternatives and suggestions. As someone just getting into good alcohol, this is amazing! Love what you guys do, keep it up!

I have to say, I started not long ago with Lagavulin 16, and damm was it an experience. I would not say it tasted good at the first sipps but it was such an overhelming experience I tried it again and man I feel in love. For me starting with something heavy was exactly the right thing, but I have to admit I am the kind of guy who likes dark chocolate or coffee. Still today, many whiskys later, Lagavulin is one of my favourites, close to the GlenDronach Parliament (if it wouldnt be so damm expensive).

Strathisla is hard to get here south of Chicago (not south enough) haven't been able to find it yet but I've been wanting to try it because i really like the peppery finish from Chivas 12. i recently mooched a bottle of Tomintoul 10 but it was just ok. also just got a $10 bottle of Clan MacGregor, lil butterscotchy but also kinda rough lol

David McDonald I'd pitch in. Would be awesome. I gave $50 to a guy that does cycling videos who raised money to follow the grand tours (Tour de France, etc.).

Whiskey Vault The cycling guy has about 40k subscribers and he raised something like $30k in no time. Would be pretty awesome to be virtually taken along for distillery tours and tastings. Maybe a goal for next summer? Do it! Or take a small group along with you for a fee.
