Titan animation was all I hoped it would be. Rex... I only hope this pandemic cools down someday soon so we aren't blinded by you "glorious" skullet every episode. Dry week was completed successfully and as always I was happy to return to my collection refreshed.

I'm not sure if you guys have ever tried Dragon's Milk, but it's an incredibly rich and thick stout because it's finished in bourbon barrels. It adds a lot of sweetness, creaminess, and a huge vanilla bomb. Honestly, a lot of the time I can't even finish one just because of how rich and heavy it is. It's no surprise to me that it would impart some of that sweetness and creaminess onto the whiskey. It's basically just taking the vanilla, brown sugar, and a little bit of cherry from bourbon, dialing it up to 11, and tossing in some lactose elements for good measure. That's a lot of flavor for a whiskey to stand up against.

I haven't gotten into whiskey that much before. There is just soo much variety, and I know soo little, that it just intimidated me. This channel is starting to change that for me. They're just soo knowledgeable, and soo silly, that I find myself wanting to try all of these whiskies they showcase.

I agree with Rex, I definitely LOVE a neat pour when its a new to me whiskey. However I get lots of the more nuanced and pleasant flavors with one large ice cube. My favorite bourbon right now is the the old forester 86 blossoms with chocolate flavors and deep cherry on the rocks.

Hey Rex and Dan, i'm relatively new into whisky (mainly like the scotches), but am really enjoying it. So far I own a couple of bottels: lagavullin 16, tallisker distiller edition (would love to see a video about this), kilkerran 12, aberlour 12 non chill filtered, glendronach 12, a Thompson Sauternes finish and a bottle of Buffalo trace. I want to add 1 or 2 bottles that kind of fit the gaps in the collection. I feel like a classic Highland whisky is missing and maybe another islay that's on the other side of the spectrum. I was thinking about maybe the clynnelish 14 or benromach 10. On the other end of the spectrum i was thinking about ardbeg, doubting beteren the 10 and the uigedail. Do you have any more good recomendations to fill the gaps in this collection. By the way also really want to buy a springbank 10 as I love the kilkerran. Cheers!

The Deanston Distillery is one of the best I've visited. It's in an old cotton mill, and they still use the waterwheel from the nearby river to power the distillery. Well worth a visit!

Glad I am working from home, that reveal made me wheeze out loud with laughter. Also, as a Michigander, I will attest to the Scottish heritage thing. I'm from an English-town, but in my heart has always been with Scottland (ever since I found this channel). I own 4 full kilt sets (flashes, hoses, herringbone vests, what have you) and have a whole room in my basement dedicated to scotch (and dust bunnies). However, it was heartbreaking when my genes test came back with 88% Korean, 12% Japanese, and ZERO PERCENT SCOTTISH. I will be *suing* that company and using that money to fund the next genetics test from the next best company.

I actually totally agree with a touch of ice on some occasions. I normally neat pour, but sometimes a bit of ice feels right. And sometimes it does bring out a bit of something in a whisky that I otherwise didn't enjoy. I like exploring things and sometimes I buy a bottle that works better with a little ice.

I wish Deanston was easier to find in Oregon. Virgin Oak is my current favorite affordable single-malt and I had to order some from an online store recently. I took 4 weeks to arrive because the quarantine caused a huge flood of online liquor buying.

I agree with Rex! I am all for exploring Whiskies with some ice. As a WINE lover I can tell you how much the expression of a wine can change with changes in temperature!. So with whiskies, I would expect to find changes in flavor, expression, complexity, and character WITH the colder water (ice), cooler temperature, and dilution!

Balcones Brimstone. Totally maintains it's character on the rocks. Going one step further, some Topo Chico mellows out the unpleasant bits (Balcones is challenging), while keeping some really interesting, refreshing character you don't see elsewhere.
